Does anybody have a newer Suburban 06 or newer. If so how does it tow? What motor is in it, the 5.3 or 6.0? What are you towing with it and what kind of mileage are you getting from it?
Thanks,
James

I had an 04 with a 8 inch lift on 37'swith 4.56 gears. It had the 5.3 and it towed fine. I did not tow alot with it, but the times I did it was fine. I do not recall the mileage maybe 10mpg or so. I think the motor is fine I would worry more about the tranny handling it over the long run. I towed a Ultra 27Shadow on a triple axle Extreme trailer. I would say total weight around
6700 lbs.

We have an 07 with the 6.0 motor sitting on 22's. It tows great! Havent checked the mileage towing as it is mostly in town. We did go up to Mohave this last summer and it towed great.

I have a '07 with 22" wheels with the 5.3L (320 hp). I tow my 23 ft deckboat, loaded with luggage. I tow it from Santa Clarita to Havasu or Mojave, So far so good.

I have an 02 Yukon with the 5.3 and I tow a 29 foot boat. It tows alright on flat ground but get it in he hills and its game over. The tow from Phoenix to Powell is a killer. I probably ask a little too much of it with a 29 footer in tow but I wasnt overly impresed with the way it towed my 22 either. Otherwise its a great car

You need a 3/4 ton Suburban with a 4.10 rear end if you plan on towing anything bigger then a 20' boat, especially if you want to have big tires.

The 3/4 ton is now equipped with the heavy duty 6 spd transmission. If you can wait a bit, Truck Trend reports the 6.0 will be replaced by the 403 HP 6.2 next year. I presume they mean next calender year and not model year. No report on what mileage would be with either the 6.0 or 6.2.

I have an 07 with a 5.3 and I tow an F-29 on occasion. On flat land it does just fine, but any incline and i can feel it start to struggle and the trans temp start to climb. I would never tow the boat back to cali with the sub.

I have an 06 sub with a 5.3 on 22 inch wheels. Overall it tow's good, it's a little rough going up the chiraco grade. Kinda have to put your foot in it. But mine only has 3.42 gears in it, going to put 4.10 gears in it after the holiday's. I also read in diesel world mag. In 09 or 2010 the sub will get the new smaller duramax diesel. That would be great to see...

You are hurting your engine towing with 22s and a 3.42 rear end.......

You were probably way over your legal tow rating with 8,000 lbs....

Fuel mileage is non-existent when you are talking a 7000lb suburban with any trailer behind it. If you are looking seriously for any type of mileage, you should wait for the '09s with the 4.5L Duramax.
