I get my trailer this Friday and would like to go camping the following weekend. Nothing far as it will be our first trip out and I'm sure we'll be forgetting things. Where are good places to have a trailer in the San Diego area? Beaches please.
It's a 40 foot fifth wheel so it will need some room.

We stayed at Campland over the Thanksgiving weekend .. based on a reference here on ***boat and we loved it.. very nice place
if you do go there try to get a preferred spot i think they are called or something by a park so you have lots of grassy areas.

Is this place by the beach? Do you have the contact info by any chance still?

40' is going to be difficult at any beach in CA. Try Silver Strand State Beach.

That place has some serious rules and regulations. Toy Haulers only for disabled people.

Carlsbad State beach is one of the nicest camp grounds I've found out here.
You look over the ocean it's unbelievable. Need to tell them your trailer is 35 ft though. If you need spots that are big let me know we wrote them down.

I think lots of people just overnight in the darn parking lots nowadays. Cops are spread too thin to do anything about it.
If you can't find anything, you can park it in front of my house, and I'll drag out a cord for ya... :D we're only 5 minutes from Mission Bay.
But its supposed to rain thursday to saturday.. :(

Carlsbad State Beach, do like Brian said, tell them your trailer is shorter then it is, if you stay there I'll come harass you, let you feed me and buy me drinks, if not Campland is a close second but then you get Mandelon coming and bugging you... :D :D

If you want on the Ocean, Silver Strand state beach is place to stay. It's on the Coronado beach ( probably the nicest beach in Ca.) It's a very nice place to stay, and your just down the road from down town Coronado.

There's a place very close if not attached to Mission Bay, sorry can't remeber the name, but it's very nice friends have stayed there with their 38FT-fifth, check w/guy who offered for you to stay at his house he probably knows the name. You can also try Calafia I believe down by San Juan Cap that place is very nice

Well it looks like we are going to be stopping short of San Diego this time and putting up camp at San Clemente State Beach. Thanks for all the replies. I will be going to Campland soon enough now.:D

Camping with a 40 foot trailer is not possible - that's a rolling motel.
