Hello guys and gals. My name is Jody and well, I am a modeler. I am currently trying to make a 1/16 scale version of the old Revel Hemi Hydro kit wich was 1/25 scale. I have searched leterally hundreds of photos and many are close in several regards, but I have found nothing the same.Maybe you guys can help me to indentify wich boat and year this is supposed to be.Thank you.

Yea I got that same model but havent put it together yet.I dont think your gonna find anything just like it.Revell proably never copied the exact boat.Looks a little to square on some of the sides. So that is what throws it off. What are you trying to do just find the make?

LOL. Sorry to clog up yer site. But someone told me if I wanted answeres, go to the guys that know. Well this looks about the best place of all! I would love to build one of these fer real indeed, esp say about maybe a 77 or 78 Hondo 17 footer with maybe a keith black or a donavan 429 Hemi!! But I dont make much, so since my income is little, I must keep my projects little.LOL. Hopefully this year I start on a car finally again.Still young with just a few young right offs.I will get my time! Early Stevens?? A 69 is simular?? I know most everything was more rounded in the rear and that is the biggest thing throwing me off! Otherwise I might say a early Hondo or a howard or a biesemeyer or a stevens or maybe even a sanger. They all are simular, but still a little different. Thanks.

On the transom it says Hemi Hydro but its a flat. I saw a boat called a Ventnor that was a flat with sponsons on the sides. It's probably just an artist's rendition of two or three different boats - some chris crafts had the head rests like that= you are looking for something somebody made up IMO.

Revell did offer a Rayson craft in the 60's. Not sure if this is it, though..

I am wondering now if it is not a diamond boat. Does anyone have more pics on the diamonds? Thank you.Jody

and at swap meets. Nothin like luggin around an intake on your shoulders and walking past tables and tables of toy cars and crap.
My next offender is the wagon people at the swapmeets that block your way....

I built one of the original Hemi Hydros in the late 60's if I recall. If I am not wrong, it was a Rayson Craft, and had sponsons to actually make it a hydro. I suspect the illustration on the box does not represent the way the actual kit looks. I was thinking the original engine had zoomies also, I recall being disappointed at having to select between OT's and zoomies and having no regular headers that the boats I was around were running.

Yeah, they all come from the old, 1963 AMT kit of a Rayson Craft...not a Stevens. ;)

This is the one I was thinking of, the other two are somewhat different, aren't they?

whoops, my mistake. I meant to post this one, the original Rayson 1963 model kit.
The other two are the Hemi Hydro, an original and a re-issue.

Some nice boat models there! Yes see, I knew the Rayson was different. That one can be fairly well nailed down, but hard to point the finger on that hydro kit. It would help maybe if I knew thier original issue year, then I would know that it would have to be something within 2 years of that!! Thanks.Jody
