Alright well what is the video on? A Disk or Tape? If it's a mini disk don't finalize it so your computer will recognize it if finalized it won't work. Place the disk into your hard drive. Open the driver its in. Right click on properties, Look for the VIDEO_TS copy that and place it into a new folder. You can then use freeware to convert it to an MPEG,AVI,JPG,ect ect... If it's on a tape your going to have to have some form of firewire. Those aren't free unfortunatlly. Place the video into a folder like the DVD the firewire converts the video to an mpeg. Then go find some trail program and your on your way!! Hope this helps!

Whatcha got? :)
Any way to make the spider keep going around the circle, preferably without the steering wheel shot and in small enough file size for a sig line? otherwise I was thinking just a short repeating drifting shot:D

Your going to need a video editor, Clip out the sterring wheel and paste the rest of the video back together. What program are you using?

I'm not using any program right now. That was kinda my question:what program should I be using? I didn't even shoot the clip. I swear officer that's not even my car.:D I just found the clip online and thought it would make a cool sig line. I guess I'll try using one of the programs suggested above.
I'm I right in thinking the basic idea is that you just take a few still captures out of the video and then string them together to make the animated GIF?

My sig was done on Adobe Premeire pro for PC. Took awhile to learn how but there is alot it can do. The spider clip could be edited and made into a Animated GIF very easily. And it can be fun to try and make the loop so smooth that you almost can't see the change. The harder part, for me, is making the size of the GIF file small enough to post while trying to make it big enough to see with quality. The other hard part will be converting it off Youtube. You will need a raw video file or digital tape to import. I don't think you will find a free program that could make a GIF very good or easy. Adobe Pre Pro is around $300 if you find a student to buy the student version for for you at their college.

If you're using a MAC you can also use the Apple Key + the Shift Key + The 4 key... all at the same time. This will let you take a picture of an area of the screen. Just pause the video and take a picture. The pictures will be on your desktop. Then play the video forward a little and take another picture. Then make a animated gif out of all the pictures.

So if I'm not using a Mac, don't know any students who I can scam for $300, and certainly don't want to pay full price for the software, that pretty much explains why everybody justs asks Bilge, LOL. Now I'm begining to understand.

The tiny one is quite lovely.:D How are you guys getting these things to show up in your sig? It either says the file size is too big or in the case of the little tiny one...no animated sigs allowed.
RCL is still crackin me up.:D

Oh and I used Firefox download helper to grab the .FLV file from Youtube and then a .FLV to .AVI converter to change it to a .AVI file and then used
Ulead .Gif Animator V-5 to edit and convert the .AVI file. It's easier than it sounds. Thanks for the motivation to figure it out. It was my first attempt using the software. If I can do it, Anybody can do it. ;)
