Use a 75/90 synthetic gear oil. Alot better then the oil that comes with the jetaway.

It's an extreme pressure 90 WT. lubricant with a GL-5 additive.
NOTE:
Synthetics will work, but tend to cause leaks due to their extreme expansion rate when heated.

That is true duane thats why its best to run a vent tube no matter what then when it expands you wont have leaks.

I couldn't agree more. The best vent we have found to date, is to take one of those old grease feeders that used to come on the Dominator pumps, take the guts out of them and they make a great vent. They have a breather hole in them and will let any of the expanded synthetic oil build up in them without leaking. Then when they cool off, they suck the excess right back iinto the Jetaway.
(make sure the vent hole is facing up)!

I use a braided line that is plastic lined with a vent on the end of it, they do not cost much to have made, just tuck it up under your transom.

Looks like it could be easily broken. I think I like PD'S setup, it would be safer from a damage standpoint and probably cheaper.

I would like to see how it could be broken:idea: unless you are able to dance on the top of your pump;)
Its made out of a industrial grade plastic and is designed for oiling machinery, it worked great, when the oil heated up the extra would end up filling half in the can and I never had any leaks;)

i`m sure glad i read this thread. this year i put synthetic oil in my jetaway and now i know why the seal started leaking. i`ll have one of those plastic deals like wet77 does by tomorrow. the place i work has hundreds of pumps and most of them have that to visually check the oil level. wont be any problem to rob one off an old junk pump. maybe i`ll get several to help someone else.

A braided line with a breather is $10 so what do one of those cost?
depends on where and what type you put on, but its around the same price for the sump bottle
It would fill up about 3/4 full after a run down the river (10 miles) and would just drain back when things cooled down.
