18' CP for me in the future. Although I'm pretty stoked with my current sled a 19'TR Rogers. If I owned a place at the river I'd probably keep both of them. I guess that would be my ultimate deal.

I must hop in and say the boat I just bought. I have wanted a circle boat (Biesemeyer) since I first saw one, they have a bitchen low pro/wide look. And they handle the rough and turn on a dime.
Second is a 21' Schiada or Rayson Craft. V-Drive Cruisers.

Mine would be a Scarb KV like from Miami Vice. I loved watching that show when I was in jr. high. Or even a Chris Craft Stinger. Some old school boat like that from the 80's.

A trident or a 36 Daytona with twin Sterlings, or the Budweiser Select boat(formally Bacardi Silver), or a 42 fountain with a shag carpet stabin cabin.

v-drive
03-07-2006, 07:43 AM
I would have to say the one I just picked up from BA KURTIS on the boards. It's a 1978 Eliminator cruiser jet and I can hardly wait for the weather to get warmer so I can really give it a test ride. v-drive

NautiTwins
03-07-2006, 08:00 AM

Either:
Marty Stretch's (sp?) old 21 ft. Daytona with DNE 565 single carb: 116mph NJBA on pump gas/ Pop in interior and ski at Lost Lake without any mods.
Or:
JohnwithJM's new 23 Ultra Stealth Deck with Mike Miller motor:
95 mph full interior jet deck boat on first pass out of the box.
Either boat will suit me just fine. Better yet, how about both.

OK, it just dawned on me this is in the Just Jets and most boat picks are jets. Sorry for the slowness. I'd like to change my prior choice to my boat, with new interior. Schiada V-drive. I have always wanted a '21 RC but bought a '22 Cruiser V-drive. If I have my way the '22 will be the family boat and a Blown 1,000 HP BBC powered '21 SCHIADA RC will be my "SUNSET CRUISER" most likely when I am in my 60's and I hopefully have a house on the river. I am going to slap myself in the face now so I wake up.

I think it would be pretty sweet if Miller Boats came out with a 18-19ft. tunnel hull that was laid up light but still made a good river boat. With about 900hp BBC. Either a jet or v-drive. I think that would impress alot of people.

Sounds like a plan. Just curious though..............how long do you suppose a 10 (or even 20) lb bottle would last with a 400 shot?
I believe I'm gonna look into some stock purchases.
The math says a 10 lb will last 30 seconds.
Then again if you can dip into the 8's, that'd probably be good for two 1/4 mile passes per 10 lbs.

Call me simple...
Classic 21' day cruiser (spectra, Schiada, howard) but with the newer Howard/Schiada deck. Carbon/composite lamination, bagged, super simple white and one color trim gel scheme. A bigger (thinking around 600 cubes) dry sump, pump gas N/A deal from DNE. Some guidance from Bennett on the bottom to get some more lift, clean all white interior, mild tunes and the whole thing rigged bomb proof.
Since we're dreamin and all, might as well throw in something nice for the Ocean. Just a high 20s, low 30s Deep V with a cabin that can be an overnight deal at Catalina. I live 10 minutes from the launch ramp, and never go in the damn ocean... That's always puzzled me.

Well my dream engine would have a 500 shot on top of about 1100 on gas, that would be hard to beat at big river. :220v:
Hmmn.............More stock. The way you guys are going nitrous will be a gainer like pork bellies and gold! I'm calling my broker.

At the present I am quit content with my group of rides. However I dream of building a v-drive 21' daytona & sticking my jet boat motor in it! It just seems like the right thing to do! :)

just wait til you drive a flat.I have been around jets since 6 years old.but my dream has always been to race a flat .Had it come true in 03 when i had the oppurtunity to race one.Couldnt ask for more Nothing agianst the jets grew up woth one learned to ski on one,had fun ,even got a DUI with one.
But now i am going back to racing boats everything better and bigger to me this is the top of all dreams.I have the best sponsors and support from family and a big n/a motor which is making some BIG HP numbers.I dont like capsules on boats feel cramped in them so they are out of ?
BTW we plan on maikin phx this year.so drop by this time i'll get you a beer but you might have to help out for it.Help is always welcomed in our pit and beer or soft drinks will be provided
I grew up on a flat since I was 5 years old. It wasnt bad haulin ass but the ride was rough :2purples: :2purples: I might buy the boat back from my uncle just to bring all my memories back.
I already requested time off for the races next month;) I will definately be by your pit. If you need a hand just let me know. I helped out one of my buddies last year with his ss boat. When it gets closer shoot me a pm;)

You are a cam change and race fuel away from that stock... ;)

For me there isn't one boat...it's gotta be two. Something dragrace quick, but with enough fuel capacity to cruise a little, and then a 19'-21' v-drive that'll do 100.

That's no dream boat. Ask the v-drive guys, they all do 100... :)

It will have somewhat of an interior, fiberglass buckets up front and a fiberglass bench in the back very minimal carpet, I flow coated only certain areas of the inside. The engine is a blown Chevy running an 871 Kuhl and the final HP will be determined next month when I do a final dyno run with the new intercooler. I think I told you I bought it right before last years CBBB and have been slaving away on it ever since, excited to get it done, but as usual it's the small things that are time consuming, I'm just glad that Dave's boat is done ( number 1 hondo) and I can focus on my own boat. :crossx: I want to make a Martinez run, maybe a CP gathering???

I should have my sled repowered shortly and hopefully we can make a trip to Martinez cause that place is the best unknown stretch of river there is.

Bigger means fast yet spend more for the same thrill.
How 'bout a deam boat 34' Lavey that does 96 mph? In a 34' 90 feels like 70...you get that for $225,250* plus amenities. Or a 40' Fountain top speed 103 mph: $460,000. Or maybe a DCB Mach29 with 1300 hp, 110 mph for the cost of a house, $303,000.
If money's no object why not that dream? Some here may think big is ultimate. A big boat means you're the BIG dog on the water. The bigger the boat the bigger the dog right? Since money's no object in a dream, so also insurance, fuel and storage cost are of no concern. Bigger always better.
Yet in the real world, I'm thinking some who finance that 100 mph custom cat feel the pressure. Am I right?
150 gallons of race gas = $900+ spend it in a weekend.
Then pull it out 'cause you got limited refueling options.
Storage or slip fees? Through the roof!
Insurance premiums a rip-off, but if you finance instead of pay you gotta insure. And insurance companies finally seem to grasp the reality of high-performance big boat risk.
Cleaning and maintenance end of the day a hassle per square foot unless you hire sexy french maids in tutus waxing...this's a dream right?
Big boats tough to dock, hard to manuever in a cove.
Performance: 0-60 mph in what, 20 seconds? Wow. Let's watch cucumbers grow.
If some here don't think a bigger boat is more worry, maybe you don't have one. I can tell you even a little 27' cruiser is not as fun as a 19' jet point a to b or running up a cove. The cruiser loves crashing though waves. It loves anchored or docked and just relaxing. All else is hassle.
Empty the head. Fill the water. Refi the house to top-off 150 gallon fuel tanks for the weekend with high octane. Run it on the river are you kidding? Park at the Road Runner...forget about it. Or try to park at Wahweap refuel dock on a busy weekend...are you dreaming? The bigger you go the harder it is to relax and have fun in trivial yet necessary things.
Go bigger for bling if you can afford to brag then end up in debt wishing you still had that 19' lake rod.
Consider a different dream. Mine.

Many of us can afford bigger boats but just aren't into that. Some guys have 1 or 2 of each, good for them!....whatever blows your skirt up right?!
I wouldn't mind having one of these,,, aside from that, (unless its in the ocean) I get bored in "big" (over 24 ft) performance boats.

Some friends of mine bought an H20 houseboat on Havi that some kids had stolen and run aground... They fixed the pontoons, did a new interior, paint, etc. It made river trips *very* interesting. Very convenient....

I am going to have to say a nice 42' Fountain with Blown injected intercooled Chevy's, and of course a Pro Mod Capsule Hydro. Petrofied used to be my dream boat but black, So now that I have that, I am going to build a twin to it then move on to a v-drive but buy it complete since I know nothing about rigging a v-drive.
