Cap Job

I want to do a cap job on my boat. I understand the process in principle but was looking for any tips from those with any real expirience with this type of project. Right now the plan is to use a die-grinder to cut a Vee into the seem and then use some type of nylon cord to fill it in the glass over the seem sand and paint. Let me know if you know better.
