Look at the top of all the forum sections for this.
TO ***boat.COM FORUM USERS
Several months ago, Hot Boat Magazine was sold to new ownership. This sale also included the ***boat.com website. During most of 2007, ***boat.com was left unattended, without new content and virtually no Forums supervision. That situation is now in the process of being rectified. Over the next 30 to 60 days, there will be substantial changes to ***boat.com. The content will be current and informative, and the Forums will continue to be a place where hot boating enthusiasts will come to discuss the sport they love.
In order to achieve the kind of informative and entertaining website we're hoping to achieve, we are asking for your help. In the recent past, civility and decorum have been lacking on the part of some Forum users and this will not be tolerated from this day forward. Some flagrant abusers of this site have already been banned for their conduct. If there is any question regarding what is, or is not, acceptable conduct, please refer to the Hot Boat Forum Rules section.

So, now that this site will no longer be a public forum to discuss ideas, where is everyone going? Wait until the hits go down, they will start letting people back online, once the click throughs start to fall for the ads, they will open it back up.

I'm going to have to disagree. I've been a moderator on several high volume forums and I can tell you this, on a site like this that is so divisive and cliquish, there's probably 50 lurkers to every poster with more than 20 posts. Most people simply don't have the time or inclination to post on a site where the patients run the asylum. Out of all the forums I've been associated with, these is easily the most hostile towards newbies or anybody else that is not part of the "in crowd."
I think ISL is even harsher on the newbies. That's the only site I've been banned from (so far).

Well Judging from the last few threads that have been posted looks like a bunch of people are jumping ship and swimming rapidly to performanceboats.com

I'll have to take your word for it. I went over there for 5 minutes once and then I remembered that I had graduated from high school when I was 16.
I agree, that's why I never went back. Seems like a bunch of people talking to themselves and getting paid for the highest post count each day.

Wow. If I was a moderator I think I would be a bit pissed about that. As I recall they were in here all the time.

They certainly didn't control the forums with regards to anything but porn and posting spam in the wrong sections. No offense.
How would you have had them control it better? Isn't the Sandbar an open topic area? There are plenty of tech forums that do a fairly good job of staying on topic.
Banning people because you changed the norm is idiotic. Once a precedence has been set it takes time to implement change. Slowly cutting out the problem is smart solution. When you simply chop off the leg the body will bleed out.
***boat.com... bleeding out.
