We restored the boat 2 years ago (1960 PowerCat) but wasn't real happy with the performance of the (2) 61 700's, they were just to small. We just put together a pair of 62 Merc 1000's and now I'm a Happy Camper. The thing hauls the mail. It's an Animal:devil: The Power and Speed difference is just Amazing!!!
We still have some handling issues to sort out but it's a blast..
The motors look newer (took some artistic lisence) but I'm a big fan of the Merc red stripes and XS graphics..:) We also made some modern performance upgrades to the lower units which allowed for them to get jacked up and run surface piercing "Choppers".
A Huge Thank You goes out to my Buddy Dick Davis (Dicksmarine) for all of his Help and Support

Hi Hoolign,
Thanks for the kind words.
All totaled about 9 -10 month's. I ended up taking the summer off after the galsswork was done and the boat was back together. Following fall / winter was for bodywork. Sanding sucks!
Go to this link for the full resto pictorial. Over 300 pic's, we got it pretty well documented.. A TON of Work and a fair bit of money:sqeyes: . Not for the weak of heart.
We are hoping to see close to 70 when its dialed in. Solid low 60's on the first outing. Water and wind sucked, so we didn't dare play with tilt pin position, and I couldn't stay in it long enough to really let them eat..
