Sounds like the truth is finaly coming out. Hopefully he will just retire, go away, and leave the records to the guys who played by the rules.

Agreed...100%. His best move is to retire. What a shame since he had top 10 talent before the juice. What a greedy SOB.

The way he was dressing last week in training camp :yuk: he should retire :yuk:

That would be great but even so it totally tainted because without the roids he wouldnt be sniffing 600 at this point, so fifty more wouldnt mean a thing.
I agree that his talent is 2nd to none, but you cant argue with the facts, and they say that he cheated.

How, exactly, is a book written by two reporters a "fact?"
Here's the facts that I concern myself with. The "fact" is, the dude came back from a season long injury and hit 5 HRs in 42 at bats last year. That's a homer every 8 at bats. I'm sure he was pissing in a cup every 15 minutes last season too. The "fact" is, even in high school, Bonds was one of the most highly touted players to ever come into the league. People knew he'd be a Hall of Famer before he ever played a ML game.
One fact I would like to see is somebody actually catching him using steroids or a positive test. So far, the "facts" that I've seen wouldn't convict Bonds of anything. I try to reserve my judgement of people until I'm presented some real evidence. In my mind, a couple guys trying to sell a book is nothing more than that, just a couple of guys trying to make a buck disparaging a public figure.
What does it matter how many HR he hit last year?? Let alone in garbage at bats against AAA pitchers trying to get an invite to spring training. The Size and Strength he posseses are because of the steroids!! He can stop taking them and still be a much stronger man than he ever would have without them.
With that said I respect your opinion to withhold judgement, but this seems a bit to me obvious in all respects.

And, speaking of garbage homeruns, would you care to guess how many garbage homeruns Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron hit off of pitchers that were well over 120 pitch counts in a four man rotation? ;) Don't get all statsy on me, I'll bury you. :D
No more stats, Steroids or not??? Your on the clock!! :)

Are you guys forgetting that he admitted taking steroids?
He said that he didn't know what he was taking. Um, yeah, OK. Whatever.
Bonds' biggest problem has always been himself. Sosa or McGwyer could go away and most people would forget or forgive their abuses. But because he is such a whining, selfish a-hole, we'll never forgive, and unfortunately, we won't forget much either.
Here is a link to the SI story. It is well written. We're not talking allegations here. The feds have the facts, apparently.
SI story coming out this week (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/magazine/03/06/growth0313/index.html)

My gut feeling is, of course, yes. But, I'd like some actual proof.
As an aside, I feel that MLB contributed to the delinquency of McGwire, Sosa and Bonds. They needed some heroes. McGwire and Sosa set the stage and America ate it up. Bonds followed suit and we ate it up. Nobody did anything to stop it. It was very, very good for baseball at the time. Now, it's very, very bad. The guy I really feel sorry for is Raffy Palmeiro, probably one of the hardest working, most underappreciated and geniunely good guys ever to put on a uniform.
I agree 100%, but part of me wishes that Bonds would just admit it and go away. All of the above stated players were great for the game because of there charisma and appreciation for the fans. Bonds has none of that, and I think that is why the media wants him to bear the brunt of the fallout.
As far as Raffy goes, if would have just admitted it in the first place it would have gone away. But when you lie it just gets bigger and bigger, and you look worse and worse.

There's no more "facts" in that Sports Illustrated story than have been present for two years. It's not even a "story", it's an excerpt from a book published by two SF writers.
What are you waiting for, him to come over and stick a needle in his ass right in front of you?
You do admit he was heavily juiced, right? .

More BS from SB.
Hey SB, do you need proof that Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points? You didn't see that happen did you?
You seem to be a fan of baseball, you certainly can recite statistics, but when do ethics come into play? Do you care about the integrity of the game?
While you may like "some actual proof" many others (including experts) are saying there can be no denying that he juiced for years. You go ahead and be in denial. You go ahead and support him.
Meanwhile I'll keep saying that he CHEATED and he's a BUM and he's really BAD FOR BASEBALL.
The game has gone downhill because of people like Bonds and the other cheaters and "fans" like you who only care about numbers rather than the integrity of the game.
Just when is it cheating? And when does it become an issue for you? :yuk:

I just hope that this whole thing is an example for all the athletes today of what not to do. Its just to bad that some of these other guys who are sitting home in their mansions with 10 cars and million dollar bank accounts cant man up and tell the truth. As much of a waste as Jose Canseco is atleast he told the truth, even if it was only for the money.

Two reporters didn't just 'say it' - they researched it thoroughly and have numerous first-hand reports (from those who know and spent time with Bonds) saying that Bonds took the juice.
You can choose to ignore the facts, choose to not read the facts but the facts indicate that BONDS CHEATED FOR YEARS.

If you pull your heads out of the sand and are willing to read, here's what ESPN has on their Web site:
Beginning in 1998 with injections in his buttocks of Winstrol, the same steroid used in the 1988 Olympics by Ben Johnson and last year by Rafael Palmeiro, Bonds' massive doping regimen grew more sophisticated as the years went on, according to "Game of Shadows," a book to be released later this month written by reporters Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams.
Fainaru-Wada and Williams write that "more than a dozen people either had been told directly that he was using banned drugs, had seen him using the drugs with their own eyes, or had been provided with information that made the conclusion he was doping inescapable," according to a book excerpt in this week's Sports Illustrated.
The book, written in narrative style, is said to be based on more than a thousand pages of documents and interviews with more than 200 people.

I guess steroids improved his vision and timing. Ill bet there are more players juicing who cant hit as well. The pro sport money machine is kind of sad all the way around. The almighty dollar rules. The greed is amazing and we the fans drive it. We want homeruns, touchdowns and goals otherwise its boring and we turn the channel to another game or something else altogether. They alter the rules every other season to make it more exciting, to make it more offensive minded. Noone wants to watch a 6-3 football game or a 1-0 baseball game, we wants points on the board no matter what. They gave it to us. I guess noone cares about steriods or they would have done something about it earlier, they all know about it from top to bottom

The funny thing here is that majority of the players in football, track, baseball and the olympics use enhancement drugs! I know this for a fact because I have played college ball and know a few big leaguers that are using. The thing that most people miss is that the drugs are not magical. You dont take them and muscle grows over night. You have to train your ass off and eat well. Its not muscle in a bottle! I know that its not right but there are alot of players that are using and people dont realize that. People are quick to point the finger at someone because they"came out of the closet". Look at all of these WWE stars that all the kids love. They are juicing hardcore but nobody bitches about that...........

I read the ESPN article two days before it was published, so I really don't need you to requote it for me here and put things in bold, but thanks.
BTW, me and two guys I know saw MagicMtnDan molesting dogs with Frenchie outside a Yucaipa Pizza Hut. It must be true, I just wrote it on the internet and two guys that I know saw it too. If anybody wants to write a book about MMD molesting dogs, I'd be willing to swear I saw it if you pay me. See how that works?
The problem is YOU have no credibility. While you may be an in denial, angry, baseball fan, you're not a credible author nor do you have the information that the authors have on Bonds.
You can take your frustration out on me if you like but it only makes you look less intelligent and more ignorant, if that's possible.

Exactly, at the level of playing if your not using you are not going to be as competitive, but it's funny when game day comes you don't hear anyone bitchin then.

You just wish you were as less intelligent as I thought I was when I was you.
BTW, the sheer stupidity of most of your posts (I'm excluding posts where you just post smilies and posts where you just cut and paste something from another website) is mind boggling. It's hard to imagine a grown man sitting behind his computer and forming those ideas. Go read the paper some more so that other people can tell you how to think.

More about the book:
"Chronicle investigative reporters Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams not only provide the ingredients, but the recipe instructions that Bonds followed.
This isn’t Jose Canseco issuing one man’s bitter backlash and taking down anyone in his path. This is dogged reporting.
Be clear about one thing when judging this body of work: T.J. Quinn is an outstanding reporter for the New York Daily News. He is the man who heard parts of Bonds’ grand jury testimony while standing in a hallway.
I asked T.J. how his story was cleared for print. He told me he spent days dealing with multiple layers of legal scrutiny within his own newspaper before the story was approved. This book by Fainaru-Wada and Williams is no different. Lawyers have dissected everything in their writing and reporting before any of it sees the light of day. No James Frey here."

Babe Ruth used corked bats, I dont see anyone trying to take him off the all time list. If Bonds catches Aaron I may have a problem with that record, True fans know Hank was the real hitter who didn't need help.

Damn, SWBOB. I remember you staunchly defended Bonds the last go 'round when there wasn't half as much evidence or investigation into his drug use.
I really can't understand your blind allegiance to this ass. Here's a stat for you: At bats per HR: 89-98...16.1
98-05...8.0
His friggen HR production doubled (like his hat size...)! But that wasn't steroids...Noooo...that was "working out extra hard".
I've known this guy since high school and he's always been a jerk. Now he's a lying, drug using jerk. He was a shoe-in for HOF before the juice. Now, I hope he gets blackballed by the writers.

I heard the sports talk shows on the way in to work today. Gotta say SWB...it sounds bad for Bonds. It quite possibly will force him out of the game :2purples: He only cares about beating Ruth out at this time and not Aaron. From what I understand Aaron is held it in long enough and if this pans out he will come out hard against Bonds.
Tom-you better hope the Giants don't lose Bonds or there small chance of taking the division from the Dodgers is all but gone.

Bonds is a cheater and he lied. He should be banned and all of his records should be erased.
Also, why would a person's hat size increase by half inch to one inch?
