I need a new intake grate for my Jacuzzi WJ. The one on there has a broken weld on the center section, and the right side is completely gone. How much would this hurt performance? and what will it cost for a new unit. Any recommendations as to which intake I should install? Thanks for the advice.

Oh yeah, a little info is necessary, the boat is an 18 foot Brendella Bubble Deck. 454, 400 horsepower. Future mods are planned, for more power and speed. Currently the boat does about 60.

Mine was broken as well when I first bought the boat. I don't think the grate makes a bit of difference as far as performance goes but you are taking the risk of sucking shit up into the pump. I did suck a good size chunk of driftwood into my pump that actually stalled my engine. The wood was keeping the pump from turning. Im surprised I didn't bust the impeller or bend a shaft, guess I was lucky. Then again I wasn't wide open either. I replaced the grate and have not had a problem since..

BJ....(hey! that's kinda cool)
Check with Greg at GS Marine in Corona. I left a complete WJ with him last year. It was kind of a consignment deal. I haven't heard anything from him, but I don't know if he still has it.
