Are GAS PRICES going to stop you from going to the river this summer.
The way I look at is , if you own a boat you better use it, no matter what gas is at.
It's going to cost close to $500 to fill it up. OUch

Over the next couple of years my opinion is that boating will be hurt due to high everything not just gasoline. The family trying to raise kids is feeling pressure from every direction and it is just the start.

I am not sure what is worst this year for us:mad: finding time to get out or the fuel prices.
we have a trip planned for Lake Mohave next month, probably stay a couple extra days since it may cost over $300 to get there and back. Boating will be the same while on the water:idea:

It's definitely going to put a damper on the fun budget. Diesel around $4.50 and premium around $4.00, it starts to add up quick.

Same boating activity on the water while there.

just got back from pismo for mothers day weekend. usually wall to wall people. it was dead. closest camp to us was probably 200' away with no one in front and and no one in back of us. it must be affecting a lot of people cause i have never seen it that slow. a dozen people at the drags maybe, and no one at the hill at all. oh well look on the bright side, maybe it will cut down on the accidents this year:) have fun and be safe

I feel smarter and smarter every day for buying the 6.2 instead of the 496.
The to and fro trips is whats getting overly expensive.....gotta make it worthwhile now.

I had to make that tough decision myself (6.2 or 496), I got the 496 and i have been pretty happy with it. i can go the whole weekend with one fill up (60 gal)...

A better way to go for some is purchasing a storage condo. Look at
http://www.storagecondosaz.com/
My neighbor (Dwayne) in Havasu is one of the developers and this place is sweet. Cameras, showers, and up to 100" with pull throughs, off of 95 near the AVI cutoff. ALL concrete and new. If you inquire the payment may be nearly what it costs to rent. Ask as they may have one or two for rent also.
Just an option.

The units are big huge buildings with the boats in them. Their is alot of them there, look at the web site, give them a call and honestly for the service of what they do for $115 VIP its a great buy!

My 50 gals lasts multiple weekends unless I run it Wide Open all day. All the traveling I did during Derest Storm and I barely used about 1/4 tank in each cell. Twice to the Springs and back, and then some.

It won't stop us but it will definitely limit the number of trips.

Wont stop or slow us down. We will be on the lake every weekend enjoying the new boat.

this question has come up alot lately, my response is beginning to change.
my previous comments have stated that the price of gas is probably not going to change my boating habbits too much if at all.
I have to say I am re-thinking this. It is costing me about $20-$25 more each time I fill up my truck for my commute (not a big deal, I guess). However, filling up the boat was a bit of a wakeup call today, I have been known to run from the island to springs and then to topock and back... these days may be fewer soon.

Yup, in a 23' open bow.....6.2 EFI...I can get about 62mph with perfect conditions.....if I run about 45mph or less it'll sip fuel. I let all the speed demons save me a spot on the beach or sandbar :D :D :D
That juicy Pastrami burger gives it a sudden power boost now and then :D :)

Cash income is going down like a rock which will hurt all toys and what we do with our free time. I think you will see the boat type change just you like are seeing in the car world. People will make less trips per year and not replace it with a new one.
All the big RV manufactures are trying to stay afloat but some will be gone next year due to leveraged loans and reduced cash flow!
This year I will not be driving my new truck as often to the lake! We will take the wifes car which gets twice the MPG.

It's changed for us.. We will probably only make it out for maybe four trips this year as opposed to our 9-10 normal. Were planning on staying longer each time though. I just sold my Duramax and bought another suburban. I'm afraid it's only going to get worse........

The key for us was to leave our boat at Spikes in Needles and when we go to havi we just park it that will save us enough so that we still can make as many trips as last year

did you visit my boat while you were there....:(
i have outdoor storage at Spikes.
we are probably only going to see the boat 2-3 times this summer as compared to like 9 times last summer. Due to the increasing gas prices.
