KC That's Calgo steering. It has no slop, and it turns friggin quick. like 1 turn lock to lock.

It would appear that the ride plate adjusts with the Cav. plates. Must be critical for those ski racers?

I saw a ski racing sterndrive last summer with v-drive style plates. It just allows you to "put the brakes on" and bring the nose down in a hurry.

I bet that guy can drive that jet with one finger if he wanted to.
Over kill on the plate set up?? Come on, that what it's all about I thought? Tell your pops he can come on over and whip all that stuff up on my lathe. Whould cost more time then money doing it that way.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Just as an observation, it seems like on a semi-v hull with a shoe/rideplate setup, the cav plates wouldn't even be in the water while under way and in a straight line, 1/4 mile style? Maybe just for the hole shot? I could see the roundy rounds using em cuz they'd touch in the corners.
Most the Southwind tunnel dragsters I've seen have the fixed cav plates but seeings how they're flat across the back they'd be in the water all the time.
Maybe I'm missing something here?

dan on that boat it was a ski race boat and it makes many turns so i would imagine that they woud need them as for the drag race thing iam not too sure it would seem like it would be moer wetted surface and that would seem bad and that they might darg in the water. but in this application they are needed. wink

Thanks for the clarification Hack. I don't guess I've ever seen a ski race before. It's raced on some sort of oval course? The only ski racing I've ever seen done is that Catalina thingy and that's pretty much a straight line deal.
I'd definitely opt for the driver's position rather than the skiier. It'd have to hurt like hell to crash at 100 mph.

SuperDave, whose rig is that and how do I contact him?
