I thought this was awsome: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2644236&postcount=624
This is a Superboat Y2k. That's 31'7"s of boat on a single stock Merc 525! 86.9MPH! Nice!:D
If I'm not mistaken that's about what most 26-28' cats run in real world boating. correct me if I'm wrong.

That is smokin' fast for a boat that size with one 525. I know boats that are a little bigger than that that can barely hit those speeds with two 525's.

I would like to put a 525 in my boat but I wouldn't anticipate getting that speed .....Grads can i borrow one of yours to test it out

a 29 Warlock ran 84.6 MPH and the 29 Lavey would go a tick faster so I'd say the Superboats #'s are impressive. I think the 30 Phantom might be close.

Pretty amazing. At that speed length and hull don't have tons to do with it, as there isn't much boat in the water. It's more x dimension, lower unit, and Prop, then the 2 sq ft of boat in the water(provided the x, lower unit, and prop were properly chosen, the trim and the cg is right).
Course what do I know, my 25 doesn't touch 70!

The Warlocks are fast hulls, but I dont think you would see that fast in a 29 Lavey. Probably mid-high 70s, maybe touch 80 in the Lavey. Remember the Lavey is also 30.5' long and a big offshore boat. Awesome numbers coming out of the Superboat though.

I am not saying anyone is wrong here but a couple of you mentioned that the
29 Warlock is fast. All I have to say is, I have good friends that bought a new one about 7 years ago with an HP500 and I saw 67 mph with 6 of us in
it in perfect r unning conditions. Then with 2 of us in it, I saw 70 mph in cool
air and great conditions. I've been in other Warlock 29's with 502 Mags that
went 63 to 65 mph every time.
What am I missing here?i

I know there are a couple of people over on OSO running 29 warlocks with big power, one with 700ish hp over 100mph. Maybe these were set up for racing vs. the pleasure version you were in...? I'm not sure, I was just basing it off that.

the best I have seen was 88mph with a 30px4 & have not seen it again since the 28px4 was installed...

A 29 in race trim (high X) and a HP500 on Havasu flat water, 75-76 on a hot day with a couple of people. Now if Havasu gets rough you can pickup 1 - 2 mph. Same setup in the ocean 82+. X dimension on a pleasure 29 is 1" lower than the race version. Makes it a lot easier to get on plane, but cost you top end.

I raced one that that went 84.6 on gps in Pittsburg Ca. in 2004. The F1 Lavey claimed to be faster but we raced very close.
