Does anyone know the redline for a HP500 w/ a WHIPPLE? I re-propped my Nordic 25' down to a 28 lab Bravo1 for elevation and went WAY past the 5200 RPM that the Mercury states. I ran 4500 w/ a 32 stock B1 prop @ 80. Im at 5000 ft above sea level. The new prop turns 5500 @ my altitude & 82mph. I have over 300hrs and it runs like a raped ape! The 32 runs about 5150 @ Parker so I sent it in to get labbed for my southern trips. Estimates are 92mph @ 5500! Whipple says they increase the rev limit with the remapped ECU. What is a safe RPM for this motor? How long will my XR drive hold up to this abuse?

I think max I would be comforable with is 5800rpm. I have buddies that run there, no problems. Just keep the lube changed. I have run bravos for several years at 5400-5500 rpm and no probs other than slight chalkyness on the drives.

At 400Ft above sea level I run a 32P at 5200 RPM, I have a Labbed 30P that is all over my rev limiter at 5400 RPM. I'm planning on moving my rev limit to 5800 in the next couple of weeks. My top speed with the 30P has been 88 MPH and thats with a GPS. The boat is a 26Ft Eliminator Eagle Open bow. My XR drive has been flawless all summer with no issues.

I tested my 28 Lab @ 3300ft elevation & bounced on the rev limit easy w/ 4 people on board. 32 just back from Merc & I will run it @ Parker in Oct.
