Just got word that there was a serious accident at the big Lake Cumberland Poker Run this morning. Details are still pretty sketchy, but initial reports are a large Skater barrel-rolled at high speed during the first-release of participant boats. Unconfirmed, but eye-witness accounts say that two onboard were seriously injured, with perhaps life-threatening consequences. Both have received medical attention. The boat is reportedly "Pammy", a familiar Skater cat to poker run events in the mid-west. The boat has a distinctive hull mural of a bikini girl on the side. The accident has caused the poker run to be cancelled.

Later reports from Lake Cumberland are not good. Unconfirmed accounts say that the owner/driver of the boat, Kevin Sellers has died as result of injuries and his co-pilot is listed in stable condition at the hospital. There seems to be some question as to whether these participants were wearing PFDs. The Skater sank -- major hole in one sponson.

Read of this on other boards. One post said that there had been a revision of facts and that those involved WERE wearing PFDs. Goes to show you just how deadly this beloved sport can get even with the right tools at hand. Thoughts and prayers to the Sellars family and the same for his passenger for a speedy and "complete" recovery. :(
