I've got an 86 Nordic bubbledeck and was thinking about adding a bimini top. It's an 18' hull that is similar to all the other jet boats of its era. I know I'll like the shade, but I'm not sure if I'll like the other aspects of the bimini, such as getting in and out, standing up, looks, mounting, etc. I'd love to hear the advantages, disadvantages and opinions on bimini tops and sizes for similar style boats.
Thanks in advance :)

It does make it harder to enter and exit..... other than that I love mine and don't know how I did without it.

for my 2 cents, it's the best thing you can have for the river.
It is harder to get in and out, unless you have an open deck, but it keeps the seat cool, the wife cooler and the beer colder. You can get a high one (48") that wont bother your vision at all.
You usually put in two mounting points one for towing and one for boating. I have run WOT with mine up and it was great. Mind you my WOT is only 60mph.
There is a great place in North LA (off Figureoa) (I forget the name) that will custom make you one in a variety of colors in either aluminum or stainless frames

Here's mine on an 18' Challenger. Love it. It is a pain getting in and out, but the shade is nice. At WOT, usually at least 28 MPH (GPS'd at that!!), sometimes 31 MPH depending on tailwind it holds up great. Most importantly, it keeps the beer cooler out of the sun

Biminis are great. They keep you from getting sunburned while you give rides and tow skiers all day. Keep in mind: 1. Head clearance, do you want to be able to stand up under it? 2. Where do you want it lie when it is down? 3. People will grab the poles when they get in and out of the boat.

Nubbs, just went and picked one up at ADLEE Custom Covers off the 91. It looks great. It sits about three feet off the top of the gunnel. On an 18 foot boat do not go to long, it looks to big. Mine is 5 foot 3 inches long. Get Dana flush mounts for the boat and only use one mounting. My thinking is if it is on the boat I am using it, otherwise is sits in the back of the truck. I was really hesitant in putting holes in the boat. But I was glad I did when I saw it all done, it looks really great. I would show you a picture but I do not have one. We will be at Parker this weekend, if you are around look for an 18 foot Cole T-Deck, with a blue and white bimini.

Who sells them? My Schiada has one, but it's old and rotten. I just want a new one that will fit in the existing mounts. Who makes the best ones?

Anyone out there put one on a 19' Picklefork that looks worth a Damn ???? maybe with some kind of pop up anchor points or something where it can be taken on or off easily ????
Thanks

guys I was just telling Nubbs, ADLEE covers boats.com. If you go to their web site they have a lot of pictures of boats that they have done. They know what they are doing, and custom fit to make any mounts. I am very happy with mine, allthough I have yet to get a picture of it. But when I do I will post one.

I am having my bimni top and boat cover done @ King Kid Covers in Castaic. They do all of Howard Custom Boats bimnis & covers. The # is 661-295-0784.
If you get a top, spend the extra $$$ and get a stainless frame.
