And of course a technical question what is the best type of silicone to use on a transom adaptor, mine is leaking at the bottom.

I'd like to know this too - it looks like this is the only seal between the bowl and the transom adapter?

we used "life caulk" at the marina I used to work at for any seal below the waterline. It stays flexible and really seals good. My setback pump hasn't leaked in 8 years. It can be found at most marine places like west marine, etc..
