i was just curious if the pistons and rods from a 454 chevy would fit on the crank of a 455 olds? idea i know it may sound crazy but i have a set of keith black pistons on a set of chevy rods from a454 and was wondering if they would fit in my olds block. will the timing gear drive from the 454 fit an olds 455? is the stoke the same in the 455 as it is in the 454? how about bore? rod journal size difference between the 454 and 455?  thanks for any info! john

Its my understanding that you can turn down the rod journals on a 455 crank and use 454 rods.

you can use BBC rods if you offset grind the crank to increase stroke and narrow the BBC rods , but then you have a very short rod with a long stroke which side loads the cylinder walls and pistons. its doable but in the realm of diminishing returns, not worth the expense.

well i see then. ok how about this..... idea what must one do to pin the 454 piston to the 455 rod? i do understand there will be some boring of the block but will the piston mount up?will the 455 block bore out far enough to take the 454 piston even if it is stock diamater? i really would like to stuff these keith black slugs into this block. :D :D
thanks john

If you are so intent on using the Chevy parts, build a Chevy. Not going to work in the Olds. frown
