One of the drivers where I work young kid like 25. Been driving for like maybe 1 year got held at gun point for the UPS truck yesterday. The guy told him to drive then he drove for like 10 mins then they kicked him out of the truck well UPS found the truck later and had the nerve to ask the driver to drive the truck back to the building. All they care about is there brown trucks with there pacakages in them no remorse(sp) for human life. How unhumaine can a corportaion be. Yea I almost lost my life let me run over to the truck and drive it back for you. **** THAT

I use to be a manager in a large grocery store and got held up ( 357 in the back of the head) one morning about 20 yrs ago. I called 911 then the main office and the first works out of there mouth was how much money did they get? They didn't even as about any of the employees. Then I told then that they also got about 30,000 in checks. They asked why did you give them the checks? I told them that they told me to clean out the safe and thats what I did. They wrote me up for not putting the checks in a different slot. Guess what I did I quit and went home and drank a 5th.... They didn't even care... It'a all bout big business and the bottonline is the dollar....

Really I think they only care about the trucks. My incomming packages are always way more beat up then the truck. USPS now has my shipping biz. They have great rates, tracking and even give you free boxes. That flat rate is hard to beat time and price wise.

On Sunday, one of my techs was (accused of) street racing, hit a lady head on, killed her, and is in the hospital with broken neck and back. The family is deciding if they will keep him on life support or pull the plug.
My boss is torn up.
We had to call the kids parents on Monday, as they had no idea.
He is helping to arrange life assistance/legal help/burial costs, whatever is needed.
Often I'm glad I work at a small company.

I had a customer call me today wondering where is parts were. I sent his order out on the 28 of feb. and it still hasnt arrived at his shop in Dallas. Hmmmmmm, Let me track it. Turns out the package went from So. Cal to NEW JERSEY, to Chicago, to New Mexico, finally to Dallas, and will be delevered tomorrow. Seemed weird to me.

Have not needed to yet. Only take 2~3 days to get from So Cal to NY. And up to 70 pounds in a flat rate box for $8.10, that's hard to beat.
You guys should look at what the post office is now doing. They have really stepped it up. I just ordered another 100 FREE shipping boxes from them.
I would like to stay with UPS but it's just not cost effective anymore.

Being a UPS package driver is a very hard job, but the alternative is to go into FEEDER (Driving big rigs).Work 2 and a half days...Tuesday ,Wednesday, and half of Thursday, and that leaves you for 4 day weekends to go to the river and use the boat. Not all management people are terrible, but they are the one that don't go anywhere in the company. Just my 2 sense.

If driving a route is too much why not drive as a long or short haul driver, they're making big bucks, you just have to get from point a to point b, same benefits and much more money. I work for UPS at the hub at ONT, and rarely have i seen a driver or hub person pissed off, always a smile, and the new hires are always happy, now if you had told more stories about drivers gettin hijacked and then told bring the truck back then i would have a little more compassion for the guy, but i think it's a manager whose under the gun from the higher ups, and made a bad, very bad decision.

I dont understand. if that was one of my employees they would have been picked up and taken home, just knowing how scared he musta been. WTF?! Leave the gun at home, take the typical american route and sue them, this would be a valid reason; undue emotional stress, not workmans comp. I hate to say that, being an employer, but you have a responsibility for not only your employees safety, but for your reactions after an accident or situation like that.

I'm over in Flight Op's in Fueling, i have a fairly easy job, but it gets hectic as well, i see folks getting Sup. jobs left and right, and i know they would be better suited as ramper/loader then Sup. but someone saw something in them and gave them the job, for us on our side of the Hub, it's Block times, when the plane is in and when it leaves, you DO NOT want to take a DELAY for any reason, and if you do you have alot of explaining to do, the whole UPS system is stressed due to the needs of the customers, and the needs of the company to perform, within budget....
Ill take the pilots job 300k a year and only working 40 hours a month god someone took my golden spoon haha :)
