I purcased a boat last tiled as a '70 Mandella. It is 17'flat, has cavitation plates like a v-drive flat bottom, equiped with a Berkeley JA jet pushed so far forward only the nozzle is sticking out. This hull was not originally a v-drive. No hardware holes(stuffing box, rudder, etc). An old berkeley engineer said JA's were made between '62-'65. Forward-reverse controls are a pull out T-handle in the dash. Ever see anything like this?
