I have some wood-like areas on the upper areas of deck that are really dull now. I have tried to polish with rubbing compound, but I had no luck. Is there a more suitable product that I can use?
Thanks!

Wood like?? If its the fake paneling, you're screwed unless you go to Jeep and ask for a Wagoneer replacemnt paneling kit or something off of a Towne and Country minivan. If its the real wood, sand it down until you hit new wood and revarnish it.

my wife saw the topic heading and said "tell him to rub it real hard with his hand."
What's up with that? poor guy my get slivers....
Have you tried Gel Gloss? It worked pretty good for me but you need to do it often and providing it's the fake stuff.

You could try a cutting compound, but my wood on my spectra was too far oxidised so I had to have the boat re gel coated and now it looks brand new

It is probably Pacalon under clear gelcoat. The clear can be wet-sanded and buffed just like any other part of the boat, but watch it, clear gives no warning before you sand through it. I would sand it out with 1500 grit, and squeegee often. as soon as the surface is even, move on to another spot. Then buff it all out, and apply polish. I like using 3M's "perfect-it 3" on clear, but it's pretty pricey stuff.

CESAR I realized the wording could have been better after I posted, but I didn't know how to edit it. Sounds funny anyway

It looks to be a wood decal under the gel coat, and the gel coat has gotten a lil' dull/hazy. Does that qaulify as Pacalon? You hit it on the head, though. I was afraid of going down to it with the rubbing compound! I will get some info on the H2O sanding, and give it a shot.

CAll JIm Brock @ 818-890-1867, he sells a foam sand block that works great on gel coat.
JIm just did his boat with this foam sand block and it looks great.

Custom77:
[QUOTE]...It looks to be a wood decal under the gel coat... That's the stuff... And yes, a hard foam block work well with the fine wet sanding. Helps keep thing flat, without allowing you to dig in to the gel. Just don't use your bare hands, or your will see the finger marks in it when your done.
Good Luck!

Thanks Ducky,
I'm going to see Jim Brock tomorrow to get a few of those foam blocks. I'll try to get some before-n-after pics so I can post. Thanks for the finger tips!
