I've built my first Blower motor had it out on the lake and river.
1st trip ran excellent, 2nd trip the magneto moved and a few other bolts here and there came loose. Pulled the engine out last week all is good.
1st question:
I forgot what curve I had installed in the mag.
2nd question
What timing should I be running.
The build is not too fancy....
496,
2 bolt main
Arp studs on mains and the head
Oval port heads
Kuhl 6-71
twin edelbrocks
Ronco mag/w externall coil
JE/SRP pistons
Carrillo rods
Steel crank
Bump stick is an ISKY #396286
Thanks

Lock out the advance, and time to 32 deg to start with, read the plugs and advance from there. It MAY want as much as 38-40 deg, or not. Take that in SMALL steps! Note: just because the timing is locked out don't try to time it at idle! Take it to 3000 or so because the cam twists, timing chain stretches, and dist drive gear has slack too. I don't run Isky cams (lots of reasons) so post the .050 duration, lift, etc. You can get into a LOT of trouble with the AFBs if untouched, give us more info. TIMINATOR

here's the specs on the cam. Stock lifters, went with the springs the cam called for and put the thicker push rods in w/guide plates.
1st set of plugs looked good to me, but i was running VP / premium pump mixed at 50/50
Its a Hyd
Cam lift .291
vlv lift .510
Dur 286
050 dur 244
lobe center 108
@ .006 lifter rise
Intake
open @BTDC 35
Closed @ ABDC 71
exhaust
open @ BBDC 71
Closed @ ATDC 35
hope this helps. I built it to drive it and learn to drive the boat w/it. it hits @ 3000rpm when its on and I can't look at the gauges anymore.
Thanks for the help

Sorry, but the cam isn't a good choice for your combo. You have a few other issues to deal with too. The fastest way is to call me at 623-877-8553 during business hrs. We are in the west phx,az. area. We are a machineshop and do quite a few blower engines. TIMINATOR
