How many of you guys run an oil temp gauge? Is it realy something you should have? What should it be at on a 460?

I just recently put one in on my 460 and it runs about 240 cruising and it will almost max out around 300 if I am really on it for any considerable amount of time, too hot. So now my next step is to get an oil cooler !

probably in the dash where you can see it.... :D ....ohhhhh, you mean the sending unit ???? Just tap out your oil pan and weld in a nut to fit the sending unit, they offer all the necesary parts for installing it. Now you have a 10+ qt oil pan, right ? If not, this will be a great oppurtunity to change this out.

I had a 10qt pan, the last engine sent a rod threw it. Can be welded. I put (i think) a 6 qt on the new (old) motor.
