....Any tips before I start? Yep. Ditch the plastic hydraulic lines and get the braided stainless line kit.

Is the problem with the plastic line just that it busts easier?

hey dan,
Just curious, why did you buy a used one when a new one is like $30.00 more and basically in your back yard($$ shipping)??? Not gettin on ya now so dont take it that way, just wonderin is all. Not everyday people take off a " basically brand new" place diverter for something else and sell it if you know what i mean. Then again, maybe he put an aggressor one on! I COULD SEE THAT. :D

Well first off, I think ya got a type-o. Do you mean $300? I shopped around a little and a new manual control was $600 with everthing included. I got a hydrolic one for the same price. I have a guarntee on it that it works. I got it from a biz. Anyway I got it for $600 out the door with shipping. The sory behind it was somone bought it for his boat, went out once,( probally 2 or 3 times) and decided to sell his boat and took the diverter off. He bought a boat from the a dealer that had a diverter on it. So he traided in the diverter. Sounds legit to me. Someone on this board said it was a good deal. I thought so too. Thanks for your consern. Let me know what you still think.

How bout the aluminum square part? By the way, what that called? Should I paint that or keep it bare? If I paint it, I have to primer it, right?

Dan, for a pic to post, you need to use the URL of the image, not the URL of the page. Click the "image" button below the text box for your post. Then paste the image URL into the box that opens. The URL for your pic is "http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/521/123Im000581.jpg"

The "square aluminum part" is called the "transom adapter". If it was polished, you will need to sand and prime before painting. Find a primer designed for aluminum.
Sidewound, there have been reports of people having the lines break as well as pull out of the fittings-very messy. Braided stainless looks a lot cooler, too. :D

Got it. Where did you find that address?

Right click on the pic.
Left click on "properties" in the box that opens.
Copy the entire line titled "Address(URL)".
That is what you will paste into dialog box that opens using the "image" button. May sound complicated at first, but its easy to do.

Try it on the pic posted above, and you will get the idea. The same procedure holds true for getting the URL for all pics on the internet.

Unless you're big on polishing, you might want to paint the adaptor. All that pretty polished aluminum is alot of work to keep nice. The aluminum goes through some kind of electrolisys(sp?). It gets water spots that are burned into the surface. The only way to get them out is to get out the sand paper and start over. I've tried a couple of different clear coats, and they just peel off, which makes an even uglier appearance. I hear clear powder coat is the way to go, but I've yet to try it.
Don't listen to me, I just hate polishing aluminum. Ask anyone!

If you people are looking for the cheapest place to buy a PlaceDiverter try CP PREFORMANCE.I bought mine(hydrolic) new complte 2 years ago for under 700 bucks. That was the cheapest place I could find.Hear is some info for the people that want a FTN incert, send it back to Place and they can machine it to accept the incerts. It cost 50 bucks plus the incerts 40 apice.I had mine done this winter.I say repolish the transom adapter and the bowl to match. It will make it clean as can be.Chet are you pickn on some one else now.Jake
