Just curious about what pans are available for 460 jets. This is for Dad's Sleekcraft 21. It has a Panther jet and three point mounts.

Mine's got Rex Marine stamped into the side of it, but I believe it's actually made by Dooley. It's a 10 qt rear pickup (jetboat) pan with trap doors. It was very pricey ($580) but I didn't want to take any chances with my new motor. In retrospect, it was cheap insurance.
Oh yeah speaking of clearance problems........you might want to take some measurements. Mine is pretty tight to the bottom.

Dooley 10 qt !! Its great, good capacity, baffles, windage tray (I have a MAC windage tray though, much nicer piece, and cheap) It cost a ton, but I smoked 2 motors due to oiling problems. Put a bung for an oil temp guage if you get one.
Howerver, check out this hot little piece, this is one of the best oiling systems you can use....

Sounds like you got the race/hiperf version, we have a ski boat 460 jet pan also which is somewhat less money and is very adequate for average ski boat type applications and much better than stock in terms of keeping the oil around the pickup during normal acceleration, deceleration and hard turning.

I believe the Dooley (Rex Marine) pan that I'm running is about 8" or 8 1/2" deep in the rear, so you may want to take some measurements. If it fits depth-wise, it should work fine with your dad's mount. One thing I did find is that a stock starter comes perilously close to the pan. The bolt/nut that holds the band on the starter is on the pan side and will actually be in contact with it and could potentially wear a hole in the pan. I had to rearrange the band in such a way that the bolt/nut for the band was in a different spot. I didn't have to move it much, but it did need to be addressed.
I can't say how it'll fit If he's running a gear reduction starter. They appear to have a much larger mounting flange and it may make contact with the pan. I think Tyson (hackjob) is using this setup, maybe he could tell us?

The milodon is as low as the tangent point of the flywheel. I have one in my three point dealio.

My Glastron CV23 has a Berkeley jet. I am running a 429 SCJ with a Milodon 10 qt. pan with a rear pickup an built-in windage tray. It too has the trap doors and seems to be built ok for the price. I did have to remove the strap that runs horizontally across the hull to connect the bottom of the engine mounts. I built a new one from 2x5/16 stainless steel flat bar with a couple of bends on the end and welded it back in. After dropping the engine back in there is only about 5/16 of an inch between the pan and the strap. I added a remote filter because in stock location you couldn't remove the filter due to being too close to the stringer, so i just got a generic relocation kit and moved it.
Good luck,
droid

I'm running a Milodon Marine 429/460 Jet-Drive pan, p/n 31365. Has an integral, dzused-in windage tray. Oil pan capacity is a generous 10 quarts plus filter(s). My motor holds 13 quarts with it's dual remote filter set-up.

Hey Malcolm, as far as I know there are 4 company's that make 460 jet-boat pans. Dooley, Milodon, Canton and Armondo's, the Milodon seems to be the best value, Flatlander racing has good pricing on them. Used ones seem hard to come by, I've been looking for a while myself.

i had to cut my front mounts a tad to make mine fit but now its no prob with the rail kit.. my front mounts ( out of the spectre were connected in the middle and it made it not fit so i cut the center section out and it was fine. and i thought that the motor would move and it didnt! so you dont have to worry about that. wink
