I was wondering if anyone has tried to run a thru transom exhaust on a 19 ft. Daytona Jet? I have one motor package with headers but I want to install a mild motor for tooling around with the family. Headers heat up to much in the no wake zones. The exhaust will come out under the water line. Is this O.K. to due? I have a 460 with the Harman long bolt manifolds and risers I would like to install. Any help would be great. Kevin

I'm not sure about the TT exhaust, but I like your handle. :)

I know of at least a few 19' tunnels with tt exhaust. As long as you have sufficient risers in place, it will work. I think you will need somthing equivalent to the thru transom Bassetts, or Lightnings. I don't think Logs and snails will cut it. In fact, here is a pic of one. You can't see the tips, but trust me they are under the water. Note the highly angled Lightning headers. http://community.webshots.com/image5/7/41/23/65874123pmdPTO_ph.jpg

Ducky, can you post that picture again, I could not get it to come up. Why are the logs and snails no good? Is there not enough rise in the riser? The last thing I want is bent rods and a locked up motor. Kevin

And yes, the snails on the logs won't have enough rise if your tips are underwater while at rest. If your motor quits and you coast to a stop, any holes with open valves with get filled with water. http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=214401

It was. It belongs to a guy from Phoenix I know. His name is Matt, he goes by "MiPinque" here on the boards. It is one bad squirt boat. The guy he hangs out with, Dan, has the same hull with the same exhaust, and a swim step!!!

Ducky, are those off the shelf headers or custom?
Are they water jacketed lightnings? or cmi's?

I don't know for sure, but I think they are off the shelf Lightning's. I believe they offer them in different heights and down angles.

Matt has traded the Stealth in the pic for a V Drive Canyon look on www.jetheaven.us (http://www.jetheaven.us) for more pics and info.Jake

This is what we do with our aluminum boats. I don't have a photo the muffler that connect the risers to the outlets, but it works good and the sound is very nice. As open headers are becoming less welcome more and more, this is good way to keep every one happy. We've done dyno tests with the power-flow over open headers and for more motors you will see very little change in power.

Still looks good from the back too.
