I have a BBF 460 .060 over with flat tops and am running MSD ignition. It starts very fast when it is cold but if it is warm it wants to crank a while before it starts? Also if I hold the throttle open it seems to help?
Any ideas?
Jesse

You might want to try and retard the timing.
I had the same problem last season.

Hard starting when hot is a symptom of a lean carb.

I checked the plugs, They look good? kceballes, It cranks fine so I dont think it is too much timing.

Before you checked the plugs did you:
Hammer it and leave it wide open for 30 seconds and then immediately shut off the motor? If not, your reading might be wrong. If you let it idle for a while, your reading IS wrong. Reading plugs is a bit of an art...

No I did not do that way, but I will.
Thanks

I'm thinking possible vapor lock...When ya try to crank it over put the pedal all the way down...try it.

carb may be dumping fuel when hot take off flame arester & look in carb when hot see if its driping fuel if it is its loading engine spacer block between carb & intake manifold will help

If you hold the throttle open all the way it starts easier? Could be your engine is getting flooded. Maybe the choke is closing and needs to be adjusted. I had this problem with a 750 double pumper carb with electric choke and the choke was set to close too early. Good luck
