Does anyone run one of these and if so do they work? I'm assuming they release the trapped air in the pump when launching. I do have a problem getting my pump primed........but nothing major.

I've seen a few at the races, plan on trying one on my boat..takes a long time to load up when launched and sometimes causes a problem when ramps are busy to backup and get out of the way...
they look simple enough to install and are only about $ 45.00
hi-techperformance.com on sale now for $30.00

Yep, they work great! By the time you get your rig backed into the water, your bowl is full & primed. You have acceleration the minute you fire the engine.
If you think about it, it's gotta save a lot of wear and tear on your wear ring & impeller too, by not firing it dry!

Never had a problem with not going when put into water, first boat and all nothing to compare it to. Does that mean pump is in good shape? Or is not picking up water right away not such a bad sign? Just wondering.

On their web site , just looks like all ya gotta do is drill and tap a hole at the top of the bowl and screw it in like a grease zerk ????

That's right. Just drill a 11/32" hole and tap it with a 1/8" pipe thread tap about 2" behind the bowl gasket. Some people don't have this problem with their boats because they are not running droop snoots, or because the packing or something else is leaking air out. Not everyone needs one either. Duane HTP
