I am looking at 99 21 Lx with a 454 jet. What can you expect for top speed. How does the hull handle and ride in chop and waves.

Most 21 daycruiser style jet boats run 53-57 top end. Since the LX is a cab forward 21 and carries more weight in the nose, I would expect 55 tops if the pump is tight and the motor is stock.

My Ultra 21XT has the same bottom hull...and my buddy has a 1993 LX both do about 55mph top speed with base 454 power and jets...thats with 1/2 tank of gas and maybe 2 people on board..
These hulls handle great on chop and small waves..I've been very impressed with the ride from my Ultra, more importantly people that have ridden in my boat have commented on the smooth ride..of course real bad chop will affect it but for most river/lake conditions they handle very well..

I have a 2000 Ultra 21 XT so I also have the same bottom hull as the 21 LX. I have a jet with the 390HP 454 with only a few mods and it runs at around 58 top end. Like sandblasted said, that's with about half a tank of gas and only two people. He is also right about the ride in rougher waters. For a daycruiser it cuts through the chop pretty good. Handling is great, but a Place Diverter is a must.

That is on speedo, but it only will hit 58 mph in ideal conditions. Again...low fuel level, 2 people, in smooth water, and in the evening (cooler air temperature).

That is on GPS, but it only will hit 60mph in ideal conditions. Again...low fuel level, 2 people, in smooth water, and in the evening (cooler air temperature).I bet it will do it in the morning too, but you got shake off that hangover and get up before 9am!!!!
