Roger's Tunnel Dragster. Former Adrinaline Rush # 020. Agressor pump, 9 vane bowl, Mirsch intake, lots of hardware. Excelent bracket or lake boat. Competitive 2 axle trailer. $4,800 less motor.

that's not a tunnel. the dragstar is a flat bottom hull.

Im not sure if rogers built a tunnel, but more like a flat bottom. and I think they called it the dragstar. Rick just restored the old duel-in-the-sun boat. it's funny you posted about that hull. K-FLAT and I just talked about it last night. web page (http://www.do-it-yourself-dragboat.com) take a look at this :D

The very first Dragstar out of Rogers (he single handedly created the jet boat biz) mold was mine. Although not a tunnel in the sense that a Daytona is and or the Southwind at the time, it certainly was not either a flatbottom in the sense of what the flatties were like then with 5/8 or 1 inch runners, It was clearly a hybred between both. I never launced mine. Harold Bruce did the pump work and right before Roger and put the motor in it I sold it to Harold. He in turn sold it to some body in the midwest I think. My boat was all yellow with dark blue, victory ornage and mellow yellow sripes on the cap and the bubbledeck. I wonder if thats my old boat? I first sold it to Harold in either 1977 or 1978.

The bottom pic does look like a sanger I was thinking the same thing. It has the same ring transom adapter sanger was known for. It also looks like the hull from the back. More then likely a bubble deck.

Im not sure if rogers built a tunnel, but more like a flat bottom. and I think they called it the dragstar. Rick just restored the old dual-in-the-sun boat. it's funny you posted about that hull. K-FLAT and I just talked about it last night. web page (http://www.do-it-yourself-dragboat.com) take a look at this :D Hey I was just going to post the link. Rick's boat is way cool. Here is a little pic and history of the " Duel in the Sun" boat.
A fellow looking like a homeless person came in the MPD shop one evening and asked "if we installed engines in jet boats". I told him "yes" and he then asked "if we would install the engine in his jet boat". I said "sure", thinking to myself that it was all a joke. He then left.
Several weeks later the same fellow showed up driving a nice shiny pickup with an injected aluminum KB hemi sitting in the bed and a brand new red & white Rogers Drag Star hitched on behind. He said "this is the engine that I'd like you to install in that jet boat". I almost fell over!
We built the rails and engine mounts, and installed the engine. During that era we also built some of the cav plate hardware used on the Drag Stars, but that stuff was usually installed in Roger's shop. I don't remember for sure if we did any of the other rigging on that boat, but I'm thinking that we may have done the pedals/plate controls because I bothered to take a pic of those. After Wally's boat left MPD, I never saw it again, but heard thru the grapevine about him setting the CompJet record.
I am thrilled to see old race boats like this being preserved and, hopefully, kept in top condition.
Jack.

i could be wrong here, but i dont think that boat is "turn key". Pops would not be happy in a race boat. I"m going to look at a 20'Rogers daycruiser next week that is looking like the boat for him. we'll see.
Mike where have you been???

nice!i'll take two please if you're given them away. hhmmm.. "adrenalin rush", boat 020, is currently a blue and yellow hydro owned and driven by clint blankenship. he runs the 8 second bracket at njba events. he said they ran a jet a long time ago before getting the hydro.. i'll have to ask him next race if this was his old boat..
