Hey Flat Broke and Hack Job. What can you tell me about the Spectra 19? How does this boat ride? I have liked the looks of this hull particularly since Eliminator laid it up as the 19' "Formula." What is the performance potential for this hull? Also, any Spectra 18's or 19's out there for sale? Not for me, but Bro-in-law is looking.

iquickjet,
There are 2 19s in the trader this week. One is a clean jet in burbank and the other is a tunnel rammed I/O that would probably go pretty good. The boats are relatively rare compared to the 18s and 20s, so when you see one, you might want to think about jumping on it.
I've only ridden in Ty's 19 a couple of times since the new motor, and it does pretty well. It handles rough chop a little better than your standard 18'er, but the tradeoff being that it would probably be a little slower than a light lay up Eliminator. Personally I like the hull and think they make a good compromise between traditional mini daycruiser and typical low slung jet boat. Here are some examples of how it rides.

hey guys i like my 19 ' i know for a fact that it can be a pretty fast hull . mine dose 75 @ 5000 rpm. which isnt too bad ( iam thinking aobut cutting down my impellor toget a higher top end hopefully around 85) any how spectras 19' mold was sold to eliminator after spectra closed up shop so in my mind they are pretty close in design . i have rode in a 18.5 eliminator and it rode more ruff than mine dose but thats my opion . my boat airs out pretty well to as you see in those pics and these ones too! wink

1quickjet,
I have driven lots of 18 & 19 Spectras. If I were to pick between Spectra 18 or 19, the 19 is a better all around hull.
When Spectra was making boats they used both the 18 & 19 for marathon enduros & speed ski racing.
The Spectra 18 was the first jet to finish & win the 1973 Parker 9 hour (jet division).
The Spectra 19 won the 1976 & 1977 Parker 9 hour Enduro (jet division).
If you need any info. go to www.spectramarine.com. (http://www.spectramarine.com.)

RH,
I went and looked at that boat last summer. It is a nice looking boat. How much did you give, if you don't mind me asking? When I looked at it last summer they wanted a lot of money for it. They were asking $8500 and that was more than what I wanted to spend on an 18'er. I really like the tandem axle trailer, I have the crummy single axle job.
Are you gonna be at Tower Park this weekend?

Steve , I gave him 44 , it's in pretty good shape got a good cleaning and in the process of polish . I took it out 2 weeks ago and it ran like a top . I put in a bilge blower [it had none , scary] these boats had no fuel gauges ? I'm trying to get it ready for labor day at Clearlake . It does have a blister and gelcoat problem below the water line did you see that when you looked at it ? Tower park sounds fun maybe another time , I would like to see some other 18's Randy

I love my 18. I like the simplicity of the jet. It's like working on a car instead of a boat.

This is a cool post!
I have been looking for a sight gauge on my Spectras tanks for 2 months, thats how long I'v had it. I coulden't get any info from anywhere, so that "STICK" idea seems real good, and my dog likes it too!
Thanks for answering unasked questions,
-Steve

Randy,
I saw the damage on the bottom and the blistering. When I looked at it they were asking something like $8500. I really like the looks of these boats. When I bought mine it didn't have a bilge blower either. I really like the ski hitch that they had built for the front of the engine. I think that for $4400 you got a pretty decent deal. I picked mine up for $4000 with a single axle trailer. Hope to see that boat soon!

I RODE IN A 19 AND IT SEEMED LITTLE SHALLOWER IN THE WATER THAN MY 18'. ALL I KNOW IS THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST FUN BOATS TO DRIVE.

The 18 footer has a lot more freeboard than the 19 ,especially at the transom. The 19 footer is a much faster hull with a shallower entry and lower profile.None of the early spectras had blowers, because they meet coastguard specification for venting the saddle tanks and the bilge. However upgrading to a blower [25-35 $ ]is recommended.
