the seat mounts are all rotted out so I'll be making aluminum mounts after the hull is gel coated.

the bowl has a nice chunk missing from one of the veins. I wonder if it can be welded and ground smooth? Probably not since the bowl looks like its cast aluminum. Anyone got any ideas on this?

My bowl had a small chip in it and I was able to clean it up with a die grinder. When I asked a welder that I knew if he could weld it he said that it could probably be done but it might be difficult. I wonder if you could use some sort of aluminized epoxy or jb weld to fill it?

Jack should be able to fix your bowl right up. So long as he can get an electrode into the cracked area to work. I've seen him cut appart C bowls and weld flanges on them for droops so yes the material can be welded.
Good luck bud,
Chris

Mike, Let me know about those seat mounts. I'd be interested once I get the rear seats shortened. :)

Jack said he can weld up the missing chunk no problem so that was good. The bad news was that the dipshit who rebuilt the pump the last time installed the shaft with a hammer and messed it up.
Oh yeah, i have a real nice A-cut Aluminum impeller for sale cheap if anyone wants it. lol
Antrant- It was 84 degrees here yesterday. R ya jealous yet?
Jordy i'm saving the Bling Bling for you. lol
Backtanner- are you talking about the seats mounts in the boat? they are completely rotted out and wasted so they wont do you any good. We started to tear them out last night and they just dissintegrated.
MissHB- I'm excited too! Should come out really good.

Here is the dolley that i built for my last boat when we did the gel coat. It took 3 of us to slide the hull off of the trailer onto the dolley. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/Avatars/Reader_Rides/Jet_Boats/Picture_0037.JPG

the bottom of the boat is in super good shape with the exception of these stupid bolts that go through the hull and hold the gas tanks down. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/Avatars/Reader_Rides/Jet_Boats/Picture_0035.JPG

Pussypusher- the plans are for a new gel coat, blueprinting the jet, more powerful motor and to thoroughly enjoy this summer at the river!
Backtanner- After talking to Todd i'm probably going to build the new mounts out of wood instead.

OK so what is the difference between a gel coat and paint. I read the post by HBJet where he gel coated the entire inside of the back of his boat yet he said it was sprayed on. Is there a difference? I was under the impression that Gel-coat is the release agent that is used in a mold before fiberglass is poured. Am I wrong? Please help me out here. And who is going to do the work for you?
Shawn

gel coat is resin with paint in it. Sprays on thick, is easy to repair and is extremely durable stuff.
Ant- You can have them fo' free bro.

Mike, way to go! It looks like your Roger's is keeping you busy. I haven't spent much time with mine in the past few weeks. Xmas and chilly rainy days have been keeping me in wink .
Keep it up!

hey Cyclone, how can I get in touch with TRG Custom Fiberglass ? Did they gel your last boat too? If so, from the pics I've seen here of your last boat they do good work. I have an 18 foot bubble deck that I plan to rebuild completely, but I would like it done before Summer. How are Todd's prices? Turn around time? What sort of power you looking to get with the new motor?
Thanks
Brian

Brendella- Todd did the gel coat on my old boat and is very good at it. Basically, he's a perfectionist with his work and prices are really good too. My boat should take between 1-2 months to finish because we have a bunch of different stuff to work on. The deck is delaminated so that is going to require a bit of work to fix. Todd's number is 626-991-9031. I'm shooting for 700hp when the motor work is finished.

My first restore was putting the hull on some old truck tires in the garage, had to bend over or be on my knees doing everything, really sucked. This is the way, keep us posted with pics...
