Hi everybody, Ive been cruising the net looking for stuff on jet boats because I found one that I would like to restore. Its a Marlin 16 foot, and its gutted and in fairly poor codition. I wonder if this is a decent boat. I plan to just use it recreationally, keep it low speed. If I can pick it up basically for free, I dont mind doing the hull and interior. The only thing Im worried about is powering it. Im not exactly sure how jetboats work. Is there a transmission? Could I convert a car engine to power it? Im not looking to break speed records, only to have fun restoring the boat and then doing some waterskiing and fishing. What do you think? Is this feasible?

Thanks,

There is no transmission and you can convert a car engine for this boat. It doesn't mention what engine was in it before or if the mounting hardware is there. Also, It looks like you'd need to show up with a trailer or a flatbed to haul it away.

I like the deck layout and appearance of this one... But I think I should look into some more complete boats... Are there any good classifides online I should look at? Im in Maryland. Thanks

If I decided to get this boat, would a smaller car engine (4 or 6 cylinder) work to make it a fun recreational boat?
