hey guys, what the best way to deal with water or moisture in flotation foamed areas. do you have to totally remove it, and if so what do you replace it with? the wood surrounding the flotation foam seems to be in good shape, not soggy or wet-hard to drill in fact. what have you guys done?

Any standing water near wood is not good. Replace with TuffStuff. Then re-glass.

I agree with HOSS; replace the wood. Are you sure you want to replace it if it is just wet? Unless the moisture has caused failure...(if it ain't broke, don't fix it)! I just glassed in a new floor and built some new seats. I look forward to enjoying them Sat. morning at Pyramid! I blew in some expansion foam sealer from Home Depot to fill some 1-2 inch sections in front floor under the deck to keep the water out. I will let you know how it works.

i was thinking of cutting a larger access hole and cleaning out all the old foam and letting it dry real good. the wood is still in good shape. the question is what do you use to replace the old foam? thanks guys.

Hey apollo - drop me an email - maybe we can get together and I'll look this stuff over for you - I know you're here in MI somewhere, if it's relatively local, let's hook up and I'll see what I can do for you.... http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif

TUFF STUFF FROM HOME DEPOT. USE IT SPARINGLY, IT WILL POP YOUR FLOOR UP.

You can use a 2-part pour in foam which works real good for the do it yourselfer, available from your local boat dealer.
