Good to finally meet him! Took a look @ his #2 Liberty boat and checked out all the trick parts on it. His sticks in the turns alot more than mine will! Talked a little about some history on Liberty boats and he took a look @ my boat. He said he did not directly build my boat but said that he would talk to his friend that made this hull (he called him and left a message). Says it has alot of lift built into the hull (maybe too much).
I'm going to remove the pump and have him check the clearances. He says the bowl looks stock so I'll probley have him work some magic on it! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif Mike

Where you there today around 4:00pm? If so sorry I didnt get a change to talk with you, I was with Dave at DNE working on the cream color CP (or should I say dave was working on it).
Looks like you have a new summer project on your hands.

Oh yeah...... I forgot that in my 1st post. I noticed that "Wrightnow" sticker on the sliding window as I was leaving (I was looking @ the boat...not the truck). Sorry I did'nt come over and introduce myself. Looked like you were busy. I should have made my way over there! I pulled the engine a few weeks ago and am going through it. Almost everything is checking out OK! I gotta know what size impeller I have before picking a cam. Hoping to have DNE help me w/ that. Looks like your motoring this weekend (where are you going)....Have a good time! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif Mike

Man, and I work just around the corner! MikeF, you have a Liberty? Cool, any photos of it? I have an Eliminator Liberty and it too has a lot of lift considering the pump setup. Jack and Dave are both great guys and your in good hands with them.

Yep, I've had all good experience with Jack. I especially appreciate the time he took to talk about pumps and answer my questions. Didn't feel rushed at all. And I just got a shortened U-joint he custom built with quick turn-around. Two thumbs up!

Learning of his background, location and the praise he receives on this board pretty much put a lock on who I would be trusting doing work to my toy. I am looking forward to learning alot more about my boat, making it quicker, maybe a little faster!....Safely
I have some pictures, just not of it in the water. I have never tried posting them so I don't know exactly how to do it. If you can let me know how to do it....I'll try to post some! Mike

HBjet,
As I hear it I thought you had a desk at the shop not one block over. I would of called you when we were there, but left the number at home.
MikeF, as far as jack and dave I dont see how you could go wrong, Jack build my pump frok scratch and the results have been nothing but great. Always willing to spend time with you and pointe you in the right direction.
Dave, just completed some work and will be doing more later the summer, He's a clone of jack, but does the engine part. Dave spend about 2 hours yesterday tell me what else I should do to get more HP out of the motor, just when I thought it was running great.

WrightNow,
I hope to be pulling into the River area Friday late afternoon. Any suggestions for a camping spot? Anywhere south of Parker would be fine, I only need a 10x10 grass spot for 2 or even 1 small tent for me and the family....... I figure I'll start up north at BR and work my way down river and see if we can fit in........

WN, I tend to agree w/ you on the right people to be talking to! I removed the pump today and semi disass it and guess what I found.....MPD signature on the back of the impeller! Seems the pump has been to see him before. Looking forward to where we go from here. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif Mike

That because ol hb's desk is one block over now..i thought he would still bring them over though. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif Hey lvjetboy, You seem like a pretty smart dude and i was wondering why you didnt just do the pump yourself? Some of the stuff you mention here is pretty thoughtful, figured a pump rebuild would be a walk in the park for ya. No offense, just curious.

MikeC,
South of parker there is only Wheeler and Big River that have camping, Last I heard Big River was full. I dont know much about places to stay on parker strip so I'm no help there.
But try Wheeler, they might have some spaces left, lowriver stay there.
Give me a call today so we can hookup I will be leaving around noon. 562 221-6008..see you this weekend.
See you then

Chet, I was thinking of doing it myself but now glad I didn't. Spent a couple hours and bent a couple pullers trying to get a detroyed driveshaft coupler off the shaft...Jack popped it off in no time. He also did excellent detail work on the bowl vanes...
Before:

After:
http://users.lvcm.com/lvjetboy/VaneMagic.gif
still can't figure out how he got the taper and edges so straight with hand tools.
He also welded extra SS on the blade leading edges (yikes!) Sent me a picture just after the weld and I'm thinking my poor blades... But here's the finished product:
http://users.lvcm.com/lvjetboy/ImpellerMagic.JPG
So I guess I'd say he did some things quicker than me, most things better than me and some things that were impossible for me. All done on the day he promised. But the cool thing was a chance to talk face to face and get speed tips on things like a cutback shoe.
Meanwhile I still have plenty of do-it-myself projects to finish before the jet's ready to squirt!
How's your boat coming Chet? Last I saw it was flipped for the dehook...any updates?
