I'm not looking for a boat ,but as a fellow 455 guy I just had to say I'm glad to hear you did'nt have any oil problems. With the olds bad rep, we need these good stories for our defence.

yea i know hey man all you need is a high volume oil pump with a 10 qrt. oil pan and ur set i changed the pan before i went to Arizona i tought it might give me problems. that's why i changed it. man it help having a forklift around the shop. we just raised the engine out took the old pan out and put the new 10 qrt pan back on and set the engine back in their. took us 2 hours total. and it runs great for all you old haters.

What impeller are you turning on that pump? What carb system are you running and what have you done to the engine?

I hate to burst your bubble, but I'm willing to bet there is no way in hell you can get a stock 455 to push a jet 85mph at 4500 revs.

Hate to agree with Wetdream and burst your bubble Eric, but the math just doesn't jive.. Even with an AA impeller, if your 455 had the torque to turn it at 4500RPM, that STILL wouldn't add up to 80 MPH..

You're right, my bad..its 80mph. But still, there is now way in hell. I asked for pics, never got them, asked about the hull, never heard about it. I'm just going off of a normal 18-19' jet hull. Now don't go getting all bent just because I'm questioning your speed. Did you GPS it, or use a dash mounted speedo? Fill me in, I'm eager to learn.

Eric. Please let us know how you did that?I to have a 455 mild build with a pump that has not been worked since 92.And at 4500 I'm doing about 63 mph.

I would be happy with 63 mph, if I could get there easily. But 80 mph, oh boy, I would be very happy indeed.
It probably can be done, but it would take a lot of work, money & more than 4500 RPM.

Damn, wish I were still living in California. This sounds a lot like my buddy here in Memphis... He used to have a 1982 19FT Bayliner Capri, 305 Chevy anchor and OMC Cobra OD that according to him would run 60-65... Now that he owns a 1993 20FT Carerra 454 Mercruiser Bravo 1 that does 63 MPH on GPS, he finally realized that his Capri MIGHT have gone 48-50 MPH!!!!

okay guys, i'm realy sorry to me so stoburn and keep saying that i was doing 80 @ 45oo rpms i was using and indash speedomoter. and it was false. so i went to the lake with my boat and my friends HTM SS 24 and he has gps along with indash speedomoter. and i found out that i was doing 60 instead of 80 hey i took all of you guy's words's and took it out for another test so it reall goes 60 mph @4500 rpms, pushed it to 4900 and did 67. what do you guys think. thanx -Eric
