Im putting dual batteries in my boat with a battery switch.. Is 4 gauge wire good enough to run? I already bought it and realized that in my boat they have 2 gauge running to the starter.. Do u think it matters much?

Woodster, We build a lot of race cars in our shop
and move a lot of batteries to the rear. Big cable
is a pluss. The best thing to look for is strand count. Power runs around the wire and not through
it. Go to a stero shop for high quality cable.
You can get gold plated ends that will not corrode

I run welder cable for the starter and the ground. It looks a little funny, but when I hit the button it turns over. I also have a 1000 amp. battery.

for a stock motor 4 gage will be fine but in a hi comp motor bigger is better.Ever feel the cables of when cranking over a built motor(they can get warm)
