Getting ready to start racing NJBA in the PGJ class, and would like some opinions and advice on what type of equipment(motors, hulls, pumps, data recorders)that would be the best in building a record setting boat. I have some ideas but would like some other opinions so I can weigh out all of the options. Thanks

I do have pics of the boat but Iam not very good with the computer, and I dont have a digital camera. The engine is a 500 inch 4.9 olds DRCE 2 block with Allan Johnson heads. The motor made 1298hp @9150rpm and 852lbs @7600rpm, on Panellas dyno, on the motor no nitrous.

I live in So Cal in Orange. Iam thinking of buying a CP Tunnel because they dont ride so bow high, and with that much power and light of weight it might be a problem with the Eliminator.

im no expert but from what ive seen, a low profile intake, cable steering, pop off and ratchet and an mpd data system are all the trick parts you may need in a class like that ,maybe add that bubble to the bottom like most of the big boys with the daytonas do. what does the hull weigh in at now? you should talk to jeff b. he is the man on setting up daytonas.who helps you out on your pump/hardware and all that stuff? thanks.

The hull weighs 340lbs and we are in the process of doing all new installation right now. Rick Green is helping me right now (Wilder Craft Boats) with the rigging and bottom of the boat.

Sounds like you already know what you are doing. you have a light boat with a stout package. Get some drive time in, and fine tuning, and you sould be running some good numbers.

sure hope you are going to all the njba races and talking to everyone there with a fast jet boat. they have experience and that may be all your combo needs. good luck.

If that motor makes that much HP at that rpm, there's only one way to go........GEARBOX...How many jets have you seen turn 9150 rpm?

Just-Jettin
05-26-2003, 07:24 PM
Gearbox is a must with the rpm we are talking about. The new Pro Stock style engines today make power way up there in the rpm range due to the vlave train geometry, its alot better than the 4.840's.
