I plan on running the boat at Lake Elsinore this Sunday, and Cyclone should be rolling out with me too. I believe RevnDave will be there as well as Wrightnow with his buddies Rogers Cyclone. Anyone else down for comming out to play on the lake?

Bring it on out! I'm just thinking to get there early to get a few good runs, and then just hangout in the cove at the end of the lake.
Come on out!
I'm trying to get Disco_Charger and Hustler to come on out, and I'm sure Todd (Gelcoat Man) will come on out too. And when we have Cyclone and Todd, MikeF isn't far behind, so I'm sure he will be comming, and if Hal know's we are all going to be there, then maybe he will bring out his Daytona!

I might be out there for some breaking in. Just got the engine back together. Disco, remember it was struggling at the K&N photo shoot? I started looking to see what was wrong and it had a cracked head and a tuliped valve. Looks like it ran lean and that seems to be traced back to a fuel pump issue. No hot laps, just some break in cruising for me but that is better than sitting home! :D

I go there for speed runs and testing in the flat but we usually get there 7am(on the water)and by 8 it is too late for a safe triple digit run.I have a wedding to go to on sat so that is why i wont make it early. :D

Todd you did'nt tell me I had to be the oil man. :D
The lake starts getting realy good after 5PM and it keeps getting better till closing. That gives you about 3 hours of good water. I did see a patrol boat out tonight at 8PM but thats not the norm.

Is that midweek or on a weekend.I have driven by there during midweek and it looks good .When i go there for testing usually all it takes are 4 boats that are driving at the same time to stir water.I am pretty cautious if i drive the flat i want no rollers sneaking up on me.AS for my family boat i'll go anytime it doesnt matter :D

77Charger, Most of the boats are gone by 6PM. there may be a few but the water is usually good after that even on the weekends. But with my luck there will probably be a 30MPH wind and 40 boats on the lake this saturday evening. I just can't guaranty its going to be good water but it usually is. Its better than anything after 8 in the morning...

Wow, What a great time for such crappy conditions. It was great rollin out of the launch area with RevnDave, Myself, Cyclone, Todd, and Disco all motoring ouut to the lake. Then we met up with Hal, and TunnelTim. We then made a mad dash to the cove where we also met up with Bradly in his blown 19' Ultra Shadow. The section of the cove where we were looked very cool having all of these exposed motor boats lined up. Bordsmj also showed up to haul all of our beer. Thanks Jason and Linda! Rivertoysjas also showed up with family and BowTieRick also showed up. It was a great turnout. Wrightnow road with me, and Hustler road with Cyclone. Thanks for comming out guys!
Wrightnow was taking photos, so he should have them posted in a few hours.
With the crappy conditions, and not even hitting WOT, I was able to get 72.6mph with just a quick blast!
Blown472 & Omega, thanks for the past weeks posting battle, it gave us something to talk about today! I will be posting some photo's because I have a question with my motor and I'm hoping one of you can help me out!

So far, it sounded really good, fired right up, idles nice, and I don't think he really has any problems. Bradly said he wanted the carbs tuned a little more though. It sure is a good looking boat on the water, and on the beach though!

how was bowtiericks boat running? I think he is the guy who bought my iron heads.

HBjet
06-29-2003, 04:13 PM
Ricks boat was running good from what I knew, and he was pretty happy.
As for the Ultra, it had a manifold leak from day one that was never addressed. Then one day the oil milkshaked after Bradly took delivery of it. So, DNE pulled the pan and noticed the crank wasn't the crank that was on the build sheet, and it was also hitting 2 pistons. So, DNE fixed everything and now it's running.

Did he go after rascal?Who built the original motor,Was it even a 4.250 stroke crank,That sucks though,im sure it will run.

HBjet
06-29-2003, 04:27 PM
BRE Beck Racing Engines (Broken Racing Engines) built the motor, and they said it dyno'd at 981hp, but Dave is having a hard time believing that because of the problems the motor had from the get go. The owner was going to have Beck fix it once DNE found the problems, but then he decided to just have DNE do the work. I don't believe he want after RacingRascal after the sale.

Don't worry BP, I told Wrightnow if he pulls that damn plug while I'm sleeping in your trailer, he's gonna get a little pay back. He may be a faster runner then I am, but last I checked, I can still stay up longer then he can... So you never know what might happen. I think we will be ok though, because Wrightnow shouldn't worry about me, but MissHBjet, that's another story!
It was so much fun out there, next time we need to bring the women, even if they aren't ours! haha!

how was bowtiericks boat running? I think he is the guy who bought my iron heads. That's me alright! It seemed to run very well. It was the first time out since the rebuild so I babied it a bit, kept it between 3500 & 4000 RPM. The new carb may be too big (850), kind of loads up at idle but I'll try to adjust it out of it before I jump to that conclusion. It was nice seeing everyone when I am not wearing work close and standing in a booth!! Too bad it was not ready 2 weeks ago.

So Cyclone Does that mean your going to look at this today or thursday night before we leave for the river? Lets see if i can fit the repair into my heavy bling-bling schedule....
monday-get new scoop mount made.
tues-wednesday- get valve cover's chromed (i hate polishing them.)
thursday--pick up newly painted fiberglass scoop from Todd (are you listening Mr. Griggs???) spend most of the day trying to make new scoop tray fit. End up making a hooptie mount for scoop after the bitchin aluminum tray doesn't work.
-try to install new headers and water lines at the last minute only to discover that the valve cover evac lines dont fit new header bungs...
-leave real late for river with the old headers and old scoop on the motor, with a trailer that likes to throw bearing buddies at passing cars every 50 miles or so, and forget all about the fact that the boat doesn't want to start...
yup..that sounds about right. :D

man my trailer sucks so bad that i have to buy two new bearing buddies each trip-one for the ride to the river and one for the ride home. and i bring a grease gun. its pretty sad knowing that at some point i'm going to replace them every time i go on the road. Am I the only one smart enough to know not to leave the driveway with out a half a roll of duct tape (100mph rating is ok)wrapped around each buddie. Also fixes cracks & loose fenders! wink Just another friendly tip from a guy trying to make a difference! :)
