Want to add ski tow - running 454 bbc on my 18'Glencoe. Problem - newer block - takes electric fuel pump. Currently have fuel pumb and bracket mounted to lhs of rear of block and wiring terminal mounted to rhs of terminal block. Both these are in the way of standard mount up tall ski tow for jet. Anyone else experience this prolblem? Any easy fixes or ideas? Don't want to have to remount pump and terminal just to add ski tow. Any info or ideas much appreciated. Pics would be nice too. Thanks in advance.

I have a front mount ski tow for bbchevy, it will tow skier better , won't let skier pull rear of the jetboat on a hard cut. $100.00 Jim Brock (818)890-1867

Jim - never seen one of these front mount ski tows - still bolts into the block? Any Pics? I'm running a standard carb scoop - will that be a problem with this type of tow? I'm interested - Thanks.

My '84 Kachina is mini-daycruiser style with an engine cover, so the ski tow is mounted on the rear edge of the boat, directly on the fiberglass. The whole thing is glass over wood, just like the transom, feels solid as a rock and has not been a problem in the short time I've owned the boat, no hairline cracks or anything. Is this a no-no?

Jim - What does it mount to - the front motor mount? Does it look like a standard engine mount ski tow or is it like a single pole type ski tow? Thanks for the info.

Kachinalazer, make sure you have a massive backing plate under there.

rsr,
I had a front mounted ski tow on an Olds years ago, they work just as Jim said. When I had the standard ski tow on the back of the engine, shkiers would pull the boat all over the place. When I switched over to the front mount, the boat hardly moved.
The one I had for the Olds was integrated into the water pump cover, I'm not sure how the BBC one mounts.

Cas - Did your front mount ski tow look like the pole type or like the rear engine mount ski tow - with multiple legs and a round eye hook?
