Here's a few shots of a rare bird, circa 1960 or so. They're shot with my crappy digi camera and not scanned so that's why they're their kinda fuzzy.
They are of an old drive that's called a 'Hydrocket' built by Aerojet-General. They built liquid rockets and stuff like that and tried their hand in the marine propulsion world.

This was a radial flow centrifugal pump where the castings were done away with and the water is discharged through 24 little nozzles around the outer edge of the impeller.
I like the intake too. This thing was a jet that looked kinda like an outboard but was rigged like an I/O. Wonder how it worked?

Probably not very good!! But without guys trying new stuff back then, we'd be using the same ole stuff now.

OR never stops coming up with this strange stuff. that is one weird lookinng pump king of like the out board coversion kits to a pump but on a much larger scale. intresting stuff OR wink :D

Im pretty sure in Clayton NY at the Antique boat museum I have seen one of those before. jawdrop eek!
