Mark, Some people like the Fram HP. I prefer either Baldwin, K&N, or Wix. We stock all except Wix if you need. There was another thread on this subject very recently if you do a search. Had a good link to filter tech page as I remember. :)

I don't know the cross on the Baldwin for an HP6 as we only stock the small Chevy and Ford Baldwins. I can check it out for you on Tuesday though if you like.
We do stock the K&N equiv of the HP6 and I consider K&N to be equal in quality to Baldwin.
Just let me know if you need any more info regarding any of these. Thanks :)

The regular Frams just don't have much paper in 'em. The HPs do look better. I just look in through the center hole and you can see how much media's in there. Even Napa's second line filter is better than the Fram.

Here's some interesting reading... http://www.frankhunt.com/FRANK/corvette/articles/oilfilterstudy/oilfilters.html

Years ago we did our own informal study. We collected a gaggle of oil filters and cut them open, counted pleats, streched pleats out to examine media, and made general observances of construction. Not very scientific, but I do recall alcohol was involved.
The absolute best, by far, was a factory filter for a honda accord, then Baldwin, wix, K&N and so forth. At the time we had 2 kinds of Fram: old and new style. The new style had far less media and a bypass valve that was easy to stick open giving no filtering at all.
I use K&N exclusively, but mostly because of the nut on the end and their availibilty through Jegs and Summit.
