What is everybody running for a single carb? 750, 850, double pumper, vac sec? Also those running tunnel rams what combo. Changing the set up and want to see what the general public is using.
Thanks

ok on my spectra 19 when it was stock i ran a single mech 850 with 80 jets front and back , now thatiam building bigger motor iam running the tunnel ram with 2 750 d.p.s (list#4779). i would guess that would be a lot of wasted gas on a stock motor. just .02

This all depends on what type of internals are in the engine, your intended use, and whether or not your boat is heavy or light.
I have seen over-carb'ed motors running 1050 Dominators on BBC's, I've seen 460 Fords with 650 DP's, simple OLDS motors with 750cfm VS's, and tunnel rams with what-ever they can bolt on.
I personaly run a "flawless" 660 Holley center squirter system on my Tunnel Ram (Edelbrock) 468 BBC. It runs awesome, gas guzzling is in "full effect" and it starts on the first turn every time!
***boat.net users get a discount on build-ups. You can send your own carburetor to me, or I can have one prepared with my stock....Mild to Wild, Color to Chrome!

Ty, what are you talking about when you say mild to wild, color or chrome? Do you know of someone that powdercoats carbs? Any pics that you can send? I may be interested, as I am thinking of buying a new carb, and drop kicking my Holley to the curb. When we gonna meet up again??? -DD Out

I have to agree with Hotcrusader. I would drop him a line. Sounds like he knows it cold. For me, a guy just wingin it. I have found that their is no substitute for a Barry Grant Demon. I was running an OK Holley 750 dp with 78 and 80's. But when I figured out what CFM's my motor was using, which was 843 or something like that, I decided to get a Demon. Demon flows their carbs wet. I could be wrong, and perhaps HotC could correct me on this but a Demon 750 can flow up to near what a Holley 850 can. This is why I went with one. I wanted the best carb whithout over carbing it. the Demon also comes with a good video that helps the average joe with tuning it properly. I've been totally happy with it.
I have a 427 10 to 1, jacobs ign, Crower cam, edlebrock air gap. Running 78 and 80's, can't remember what the p valve is but it's whatever that came with it. Plugs are nice and brown. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif

Bigs I'm going to take it up to 96 in the secondaries. Boat ran great.Hit 80 with A imp.I did loose three pistons and two intake valves. To high temps figuring it was to lean.Couldnt find any other problems. It was running 80-86 .Its back together now switching imp. to AA should put my rpm around 4800-4900.Does'nt this sound like a lot of fuel?Cam is advanced 10 deg With a total of 35 deg.Idling around 1100 rpms.Thing has great throtle response.
