Just got turned down by the 3rd carrier I contacted and am going to try to link with haggerty and connect with my classic car insurance. How do the rest of you insure a 35 year old jet boat that does over 60 mph and has a 30,000.00 replacement value?

OP,
Try Buttes Insurance in Yuba City.
They hooked me up on full coverage for my old open engined Challenger and my current Sanger.

You should be able to add it to your home owners insurance, however the $30,000 dollar replacement value is a big red flag. It has "reported stolen" written all over it. I've been watching jet boats on E-bay and have yet to see one sell for over $10,000. Regardless of what you have into it the botten line is there are a lot of very nice jet boats that could REPLACE it for far less than $30,000.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way. I'm just trying to give you a few ideas why you're having such a hard time finding insurance.

Hmmmm...seems to me that $30K is not out of the question...figure this:
Engine..514BBF...approx $10K
Jet: approx $3K
Boat: 21ft day cruiser..approx replacement (new) $15-$18K
Trailer: standard for that boat..$2K
Misc: who knows $$
ys u can find nice jet boats out there for far less..but its someone else's..which has prob been thrashed..$30K is alot..but..go out and price the replacement for "urs" and see what it costs!!

Buttes is my insurance but when my last boat was stolen they were basically no help. The pickup,boat and trailer were stolen from in front of my house. Home owners gave me $1,000.00 the pickup barely paid off and nothing for the tools, Gen welder and Aircomp in back. I looked at a new lightning jet boat and well equiped was over $40,000.00 my costs are basically as follows;
21' daycruiser in very good but 1075 condition $5000.00
New paint $2000.00
New interior $5,000.00
514 Aluminum head Ford $6500.00
Stereo $1000.00
Gauges $1000.00
Anodized Billet crap $2500.00
Wheels & tires $800.00
I havent had the pump work done yet but that will be another 2 Gs
The thing is, next time some bastard rips me off or crashes me on the highway I don't want to go through this 3 year oddessy just to get a boat I can be proud of again. A $2500.00 tahity with a worn out olds isnt what Ive got. Thats why I want agreed value this time

OP,
Buttes is just the agent, they act as a go- between between the customer, you, and the acutual insurer.
I'm sure if you explain the situation, any good agent should be able to find you the coverage you want. It won't be cheap, that's for sure.
Good luck.

Keep in mind your dealing with insurence companies. They aren't in the bussiness of replacing old with new. When my 94 Grand Am GT was totaled by some drunk chick the replacement cost for a new one was $22,000. I had to work like hell to get $4800 for it. The best part is a ten year old car isn't 5 times cheaper to insure than a new one. You just get 1/5 as much for the car when its totaled.
My point is that insurance is designed to get you a similar vehical, not a new replacement like your looking for. You can go "Stated Value" but you are going to pay for it in the long run. They see these types of boats as high risk and too few to make any real profit.... and no I don't sell insurance, but I have had to deal with them on more than one occation. Try getting insurance for a 675hp S/G Vega.

If you want the boat insured for $30,000, then you need to get an "agreed value" policy. It is not difficult, but not cheap. I have my 1972 Mandella insured for $30K and my 1975 Campbell for $25K. All I needed was a letter from a reputable boat shop (Wilkes in my case) and the agreed value was no problem.
