Awesome..how about bringing it down to Havasu this summer? I'll show you where the river is...
PS- the only "white-water" is from the girls sunblock, though...

The welded hand-hole is for strength. Bolts breaking on re-entry has finished some guy's races. We also fill the inside cracks with bondo for a smoother intake. As far as going to Havasu, I'd really like get down there at some time. It would be way to good to meet some of the guys from here

Although the water there is a little shallow...don't know if you're used to that...
Also, we like our drinks cold...

Wow! That's one nice looking rig. You would definately get some attention down in these parts with that boat.
I bet its pretty damn fast being that light!

I know the guys that own the joint so I best not say my cost in case it is a bit cheaper (I hope it is, after buying 3 other boats there).

Jungle Boy,
Do they pop those out without the arch and roll bar for recreational use? I think I read somewhere (maybe one of your posts) that the tunnel wouldn't exactly make a great lake boat due to handling characteristics. I'm not in the market to buy, but have always wondered why these things haven't taken off down here. The pricing seems very fair considering that the damn thing would probably last forever as a "family" boat. Combine that with the fact that a moderately strong small block can push the thing into the 70s with a jet makes for a great package. If you ever do make it down this way, let us know in advance so we could make plans to get out to wherever you end up and go for a ride. I for one would be very interested in seeing how they handle.

ChrisI had a friend that had a tunnel built with a back seat about 10 years or so. It was powered with a 502ci crate engine. I think it ran in the 80's. I have not heard of anyone ordering one like that since. The Eagle sport (V-hull with step bottom) is more for a daily driver type boat and they will run 80+ MPH with 475 HP. They work well for lake, river and just plain ole boating with the buds and a cooler of beer.

Now you've got my attention! 80mph with 475hp. I'm assuming this is a stripped down race setup? are those numbers with a 475hp sbc, or bbc? Are the prices simliar to the 21 tunnel? Now I REALLY don't understand why those little tin cans haven't made a splash around here. Is there some inherent problem or characteristic about them that I'm missing? Don't get me wrong, I love well built hand laid composite hulls, specifically the old day cruisers, but when I could build a setup that would run 80 for about 350HP less than my tug, somethings up.
Asside from that stuff, am I looking at the picture of your hull correctly and the intake is actually laid in under the hull, or perhaps as part of the hull? I can see the through bolts for the intake grate, but not the front of the intake.
Either way, I have to get myself a ride in one of the 21's. So get your boat out to the Avi Hotel and Casino just north of Needles this August for the 2nd annual Classic Boat Beach Bash. While the river runs pretty straight in those parts, fluctuating water levels uncover some rock/sand bars that you could navigate around at speed in the mid morning :)

The 19' sport boats with a step bottom and lightweight hull equipped with a stock 355 hp ZZ4 a  nd Imco power-flo exhaust will run low/mid 70's. This is with a back seat, a carpeted interior, heater, stereo, and cooler full of beer.
As for your other question about the intake. It is part of the boat, the bolts you can see are holding a aluminum spoon that is bolted to the keel.
And yes, I wonder too why there are not more guys buying these boats. I see some boats in here that are some real low riders, so I don't imagine that they do much cruising around in rough water or in chopped up water. If anything, that would be the only drawback. These are light and it can be rough ride in real choppy water, but is still do-able. The thing with running on fast rivers is the water has a pattern, it is either running one way or the other. In chopped up lakes it's all over the place (if that makes any sense). We have talked about going down south with a few boats from time to time. Maybe it's time to make it happen. I'm going to work on the boys through the winter and maybe it will happen.

Push em for the Avi in August as part of the event includes a run down to the Sandbar on Havasu, so you get the best of both worlds.

August won't work. The Canada Worlds race is in early August. If anything will work, it will be mid spring. Kim, lets try to get something happening on this.

The boys at Eagle are all talking now and we are hoping to get some guys to head down for the Big Block Spanking Fiesta. I hope they will allow us to show up with small block stuff. :D

I'm pretty sure the whackers like to think of themselves as equal-opportunity spankers of car boats, big or small!
