WANNA POST PICS? HERE'S HOW!!! UPDATED!

OK, folks, got a request from someone I helped out for info on posting a picture, sooooo, I figured what the hey - I'll post it in here, too - Sure hope this helps some of you out! These are for posting and linking into ***boat, but the other forums are very similar - Good Luck!
UPDATE: Just thought I'd add in the "new way" to put the pics up and info on previewing posts - hope it helps somebody out!
1. Go to www.***boat.net (http://www.***boat.net)
2. Click on the "Enter Here" icon (not hard to spot - it's the one COVERED in "bikini babes"!!! EASY, right??? lol)
3. Click on the "Media Center" icon
4. Choose/click on a category (to post pic under)
5. Choose/click on a subcategory
6. At the bottom of the page, click on the "Post your Picture" button
7. If necessary, fill in the form spaces (if you're already a "registered member", it will fill automatically) - select the category to post the picture under from the "drop down" list
8. Click the "browse" button to go and locate the desired pictures on your hard drive for upload (if necessary, use the "search" function in Windows to locate your pictures to upload)
9. Post a caption & keywords in spaces provided (if desired - not necessary)
10. Click "Post My Picture" button, then WAIT until upload completes (CRUCIAL!)
11. After upload completes, it will display the picture AND a "thumbnail" size of the pic - to "link" to the picture to display on the board, you MUST use the info (in the following step) to the LARGE picture, not the thumbnail!
12. Right click on the LARGER (upper) photo (see above), and click "Properties"
13. Find the Address (URL) and highlight it - right click, then choose "Copy"
14. Post your reply in the forum, using , then right click again, then click "Paste" (URL copied info should appear), then - so it should read as follows: your picture info - NO spaces, ONLY brackets - UPDATE: You may also click the "IMAGE" button under the "Instant UBB Code" section in the reply window - this will bring up a box where you can right click and click "Paste", allowing your info to show up in that box (Thanks again, OLDSQUIRT!) - this should cause picture to appear in your reply - UPDATE: also, to check if you've done it correctly, you can use the "Preview Post" button(in the bottom of the "Message" box) to make sure your pic appears - I believe there are other ways to do it (i.e. HTML code, etc.), but this is what has always worked for me - it's best to stay with sites that you KNOW allow "linking" (i.e. ***boat, Banderlog, Liquidaddiction), that way your pic WILL appear (if it doesn't, copy it using the above instructions into ***boat or Banderlog or Liquidaddiction) - that's it!!!! I SINCERELY hope this helps all of you out, and A HUGE THANK YOU to Oldsquirt for "showing me the way" - Good Luck and HAPPY POSTING!!!!! :D

Guess what! Thnks to the upgrades ***boat has done here, you no longer have to mess with the " xxx " nonsense. Directly below the message text box is a box titled "Instant UBB Code". If you want to post a pic, just click image. That will open a dialog box into which you paste the URL of your pic. Click OK and you are done. Couldn't get much easier.

OR, the pic you posted was the "thumbnail". When you go to the media center, click on the thumbnail and the full size pic will open. Get the address for that pic.
It should then come out like this:

Hey 68Hallet - looks like you're trying to link to the thumbnail (start at step 11 above) - click on the thumbnail to get the full size pic, then do the right click on that and then add the rest of the stuff, then you should be good to go.....be sure to preview before you post, then you won't get them pesky red x's...... :D Good Luck!

Like I said in my first post, Lumpy, most are not "link friendly" for the purposes of posting here (I think it's a "bandwidth thing"???), so my best advice would be to copy your pictures into one (or more) of the forums that I listed there, that way you KNOW your pic will show up on here......Best of Luck! Hey gotdamp - thanks for the kind words - as far as your problem, that's kinda puzzling, only thing I can think is that maybe you don't have "cookies" enabled in your browser, so when you go back to make changes in your ***boat account, the changes aren't saved/recognized - check your settings and make sure "cookies" are enabled (and NO, they aren't the "spy magic" everyone thinks they are, so don't worry about it!!!) As far as avatars in general, I've been doing the "right-click" trick and looking at the properties of other people's avatars, then going to the main sites listed and taking a look around - (that's where I found the one I'm using, which I LOVE!), then do the right-click and copy on the properties of the one you want, and paste it into your ***boat profile - you might also try doing a search under "animated gif files" - there are a lot out there, you just have to make sure that it is OK to post/link it without issues (i.e. "shareware" or "freeware") - hopefully that will help you out - Best of luck to you! :)

Not real sure, buddy - I actually had to download your picture to my hard drive, then re-post it under "Reader's Rides", then I was able to link to it so it would display - I think there may be an issue with linking into the "Forum Graphic Depot" for images, as a lot of the images in there do not seem to show up either as thumbnails OR full-size images - maybe try uploading your avatar into another area, or double check and make sure wherever you are trying to link to allows it - if you do a search for "animated gifs" there are a BUNCH of them out there - try right-clicking on some of the other avatars and going to the sites shown there and then link to it - that's how I found mine - good luck - hope I was able to help you out! :D

I'm not sure what went wrong,Brendella - I just now did it as per the instructions - did you maybe type in the URL (instead of doing the copy and paste)? It looks like the title is essentially there, just some of the capital letters and underscores are missing - review the instructions and try it again, then hit the "preview" button to make sure it shows up - Good Luck! :D

Sorry JungleBoy, my bad. You still there? :) Left out a few key steps in my post above (see bold). Just went through the routine myself to make sure I got all the steps:
1) Go to View/Update profile
2) Click on Select a different Avatar Image. A new window appears with a custom url edit box at the bottom
3) Type the following in the Custom Url edit box at the bottom:
http://users.lvcm.com/lvjetboy/JungleAvatar.gif
4) Click the "set url" button to the right of the edit box.
5) Click the "select this avatar" button at the top left in this same window...once clicked the window will close and you'll be back to your update profile page. At this point the new avatar will be displayed on your profile page
6) Click the "update profile" button at the bottom of the page.
7) Finally, you need to post a message in order for any changes to start showing.
Presto! You're in there.

Cool looking boat, but you'd have very little of that thing left after a few river runs. About 1 beaver dam at 40 would leave you looking for your cell phone to get a ride home. Are you set on a lake boat or a dual purpose tin boat. They can look very nice if painted and rigged up right.
