Here are the specs on the 2 cams I am interested in.
1500-5500 rpm/268 advertised/218@.50/.456 lift
or
2000-6000 rpm/280 advertised/230@.50/.490 lift
My motor is a 455 olds .60 over/ tunnel ram w/ 2 650 holleys/9:5:1 comp/fresh heads/open bassets/hei/b cut impeller/light hull
what do you guys think?

In my opinion, i would go with the 490 lift cam for speed and the reason is the boat is'nt going to plain till about 3000 rpm, and give you better throttle response on top end, if you are going to pull anything , go with the other cam. I am the guy who called you about the diverter........ :D

396,
UD Harold sells a cam that he says really wakes up an Olds jet. It's 288/296 duration (231/239 @50) and .517/.541 lift. The RPM range is 2800 to 5800.
I think over 500 lift you need to shorten your valve guides to prevent binding, but it would be worth it.

Yeah full rollers will be a must, but over .512 lift the tops of the valve guides need to be cut down to .700" off the spring seat to keep the spring retainer and the locks from taking out your stem seals. Mondello says once you do this you're good to .800 valve lift!

Yo 396 use one that has a wider lobe seperation then 110 that way you wont have water in you cylinders :) esp. if you have headers. L8
