I need to replace the floor in my Tahiti and was looking for a place to get the resin and cloth. how much do you think I will need for the floor it is about 4'X 8'. The stringers are in good shape so I will not need to replace them. What type of cloth should I get the small tape or the 3' roll? What is the best type of resin for boats?

A gallon will be plenty! You will definetely want the 3' rolls. I think you want to avoid the finishing resin. Check your local paint supply stores (auto), they should have everything you need, and be able to answer some questions.

Call Barney, He hooked me up with some insane fiberglass. I dont know how to call it- cloth or mat or a half breed! This stuff is sewn together and feels like a pair of blue jeans folded together. I mean this shit is some serious stuff. Hell words cant even describe how strong this shit is. Barney said all you need to do is lay it once and it will come out smooth, pretty and strong as hell.Just ask hackjob I know he has seen it in barneys shop. His web site is Havasubarney.com

The glass 396 is talking about is X-Glass. It is matt and cloth combined. One side is cloth, one side is matt!
Strongest sh!t out there that I know of.

Thanks for you help on the mat. I found the mat at www.tapplastics.com (http://www.tapplastics.com) and looking around at tapplastics they have the Polyester Resins and Epoxy Resins.
Now what is the best resin to use?

What are you doing ? Quiz Tap for advise they are pretty helpful I have been using their marine epoxy with the slow hardener because it is thinner and helps to wet out that thick mat . Generally the marine epoxy is better for below the water line but I am using it everywhere , I am told that you can't shoot gel-coat over epoxy it won't adhere . Which ever way you go buy the dispensing pumps for the cans they save you alot of mess .RH

Go to Glenwood marine. They sell everything you need at resonable prices. I shopped around and they have quality stuff. They are good people to deal with and know the ins and outs in boat building and repairs. They also have hard to find hardware for older boats. I bought my Mopar conversion from them. For resin and epoxy I go to west marine. They sell boatyard marine resin by evercoat for $18.00 a gallon!! Perfect for general lay-ups. Go to glen-l.com and check it out.

I would suggest using matt, a good 2oz matt should be all you need. If your looking to make it bulletproof, then go with something like X-Glass, I use 3oz X-glass. If you go with X-glass, use it with a 1 oz matt for the best possible result.
Avoid cloth!
As far as resins go, if you decide to use epoxy, West Marine or any over the counter store would be fine. You can gel over West Sytems Epoxy also, just requires a little more sanding.
If you decide to use poly or vinyl resin, which I would suggest, then go to a local glass shop to buy it. Poly or vinyl resin has a shelf life and the fresher, the better. I would NOT buy poly or vinyl resins from Wal-Mart, West Marine, Tapp or anyone else that has it sitting on a shelf.
