I have a 19 foot eliminator daytona and needed some help with the placement of the alternator, I seen the mounts offered by Rex marine but I wanted to put my back seat in if I choose and the low mount looks like it will hit the stringers. What is everyone else running?
Thanks for the help!! idea

Here's what I use, It's a home made unit and tough to see. You may have to use your imagination.

Here's what I did with mine. It's not nearly as trick as the driveshaft driven one, but it only cost me $7.00 to put together. I sorta copied the ones that they sell in Jeggs/Summit. My turnbuckle came from the local hardware store and I just used the bolt from the motor mount to hold one end and the other goes to the alternator. It's been on there for three years and hasn't given me any problems. All you have to do is loosen the jamnut and adjust the belt tension with the turnbuckle.

These are the pieces I used. Had to put some bushings in the eyelet ends of the turnbuckle.

I even had it on my other motor with a four point mount. I just drilled a hole in the mounting plate and tapped it for the proper size hardware (5/8" I believe).

I did what Dan or Squirtcha did but took it one step further up the money ladder and bought a racing gocart tierod it is alum and has hiemjoints on each end it was a bit long so I cut it to length and retaped one side and polished it up and it workes great. It cost me 35 bucks and that is with the tap.I will try to find a pic.Jake

Squirtcha - That's a neat trick! It gives me the solution I've been looking for to change the adjustment on my alternator.
Thanks! :D

Glad it helped Kevin. I like Jake's idea and I'm betting it looks more professional. One of these days I may have to do that too. With mine it was kinda of the ol necessity is the mother of invention thing. I needed a mount and had to come up with something, or not go boating that day!

Here is my setup, I did it for a Jacuzzi, but I would do it for any pump.

Now that's slick. Very nice piece. I assume that the pulley is welded to the driveshaft?

Could you use that bracket on the front of a JETAWAY?I would like to run the alt like this on my Kachina project but it will have a Jetaway and then a split drive shaft witha bout a one inch spacer in it.Thanks Jake PS Dan I got the idea to do mine off a pic of yours he he .

On my set-up the pulley is pinch bolted to the yoke. You would have to see it. The first bracket I made fit my Jacuzzi, but I can make a bracket to fit ANY pump.

That woulda been my second guess. No problems with it being centered then? Do the existing holes in the pulley line up, or do you have to make new ones?

all that i know is that about a month ago, i went to Bubba's house and checked out his gullwing and "MAN"!,.... that is the cleanest boat that I think ive ever seen, all polished Kieth Black block everything on that boat is polished, chromed, powdercoated or painted!!! Simply "UNBELIEVEABLE"!!! Todd'

What do you mean about the holes in the pulley? The pulley on the alternator or the driveshaft?
The pulley on the driveshaft is a custom setup, the one on the alternator is a custom made by me.
